COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Monks have been brewing beer in Belgium for centuries. Their beers have been some of the most sought after in the world. Solitude is made in the tradition of the famous brewing monks of the Abbeys of Belgium. This beer is deep mahogany in color, malt forward with hints of caramel, pear & raisin.

Light to medium with light head. Overall sweet with some saltiness. Maybe a bit sour. Easy to drink. Taste would indicate a harsh palate, but is flatter than expected. Pairs well with dull, carb-heavy foods.

Dark and rich. A bit sour with a flavor full of dark fruits and belgian yeastiness. Thick and oily on the tongue.

I enjoyed this for a good drinking beer at a party. Went well with tacos and Mexican food. Medium to dark brown color. Light tangy yeast flavors with some caramel and light fruit.

Dark brown pour with light brown/red hue. Offwhite thin layer of head. Aroma was creamy, sour raspberry. Low carbonation and oily mouthfeel. Malty and salty sour taste. Finish was a little dry, sour and floral overall.

I like the black and purple pint can, but the rest isn’t as good as the can Thick and creamy malty beer with notes of chocolate, Munich malt and a little raisin. It has a weird vegetable note. The Belgian yeast esters are too subtle. Drinks like a middle of the road stout with a little bit of tangyness. Not bad, but not something I would buy again.

Not a whole lot of complexity going on here. It has some good malt sweetness, but kind of lacks depth. Easy drinking, and another quality Michigan brew, yet just falls short.

16 oz can. A very fruity Belgian, with an interesting funk. Doesn’t quite come together though. Pours ruby brown, with a creamy, wispy head, and is mostly translucent. Aroma is of pear, apricots, spicy pear, caramel, and off-bread. Palate is decently bitter and spicy, with a mixed fruit sweetness. Apples, pears, berry and prominent funky cherry. Yeasty bread. Caramel, dark malts. Some decent things going on here, but not the best as a whole.

16oz can from Binny’s Naperville. Pours a deep brown-amber colored body with a finger-width, dense, frothy and creamy, tan head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing. Aroma is grainy, raisiny, sweet caramel and molasses with some biscuit, fruity Belgian yeast, and light spices. Flavor is similar. Sweeter, deeper caramels and molasses with lots of raisins, prunes, Belgian yeast, touches of roast, grains, and a few spices. Finishes sweet, lightly spicy and yeasty, rich malty, and ripe fruity before leaving a fairly lengthy aftertaste. Medium-full body and a soft, moderate carbonation. Overall, a sweeter, fruitier, maltier Belgian Ale with a light, balancing spice. A bit too sweet for me, but not bad.
