Monks have been brewing beer in Belgium for centuries. Their beers have been some of the most sought after in the world. Solitude is made in the tradition of the famous brewing monks of the Abbeys of Belgium. This beer is deep mahogany in color, malt forward with hints of caramel, pear & raisin.

I enjoyed this for a good drinking beer at a party. Went well with tacos and Mexican food. Medium to dark brown color. Light tangy yeast flavors with some caramel and light fruit.

Pours a dark mahogony with large head that quickly goes away... lots of caramel and malt.... finishes smooth. Decent easy drinking beer

Drank from a 16oz can poured into a tulip glass. Pours a deep mahogany with ruby red accents. Very clear with a small head the did not persist. Malty, raisin, plum aroma. Beer was adequately carbonated, bordering on flat. Good mixture of malty sweetness and some bitterness. Could taste some caramel and darker malty notes. Overall a very nice beer.

16oz can. Poured into an ovila glass. Hazy brown / red color. Thin khaki head, leaves good ropes of lace. Good dark fruit, raisin aromas. Some caramel malt. Very lightly spicy. Medium to bigger body, pretty full. Smooth, crisp, lighter carbonation. Sort of slick. Moderate bitter, lighter sweet, lightly spicy. Pretty tasty, smooth, flavorful, enjoyable belgian ale. Great one to enjoy with my sandwich.

16 oz can from Sicilianos served in a Belgian snifter. Pours clear but very dark, reddish brown with a good head. Aroma: darks fruits with hints of being sour and over-ripe. Taste: rich and complex, with a bit more yeastiness than I prefer, but with a substantial amount of raisin, dates, figs and generic dark fruits. Overall bitter and sweet are nearly in balance. Feel: medium body; carbonation is lively, perhaps too lively.

Can. Dark ruby color with off white head. Looks nice. Lots of malt in the aroma. Taste has a sweet dried fruit note that doesn’t come out in the aroma. Belgian yeast. Ok beer. Certainly not my favorite from BV.

My "Skyrim" beer. Dark. Lasting tan head, though more minimal. Generally well balanced charred malt with dark fruit. Recently had on tap with more pronounced fruitiness. BV’s said Solitude tends to change a bit.

16 ounce can into tulip glass, no canning date. Pours moderately hazy deep ruby red color with a 2 finger fairly dense light khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Spotty foamy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of big cherry, raisin, prune, pear, caramel, candi sugar, pepper, clove, toast, light chocolate, herbal, brown sugar, and yeast earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity/spicy yeast and malt notes; with good strength. Taste of cherry, raisin, prune, pear, caramel, toast, pepper, clove, candi sugar, light chocolate, molasses, herbal, and yeast earthiness. Lingering notes of dark fruits, caramel, toast, clove, pepper, light chocolate, candi sugar, molasses, herbal, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice balance and complexity of fruity/spicy yeast and dark malt flavors; with a good malt/spiciness balance and zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a smooth, lightly slick, and slightly syrupy mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a damn nice Belgian dark ale! All around good balance, complexity, and robustness of fruity/spicy yeast and malt flavors; and very smooth to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

Gorgeous mahogany color. Aroma of malts and fruitiness. Mouthfeel is crisp and cool and refreshing. Flavor has a great creaminess and quickly fleeting flavor. Makes you want to keep sipping. Very refreshing.

Canned. Big red with some brown hues. Mostly clear. Really short lived off white head (downer). Aroma of fresh pumpernickel, brown sugar, yeast and scant booze and spice. Fresh supply. Carb dies really quickly, leaving a relatively sweet and cloying example. Cola, cocoa. molases. Ginger bread. Potentially, this would be quite nice. And, it still is better than a lot of stuff. Palate is good.

16 oz can poured to shaker. Dark, sweet, solid full bodied, dry hoppy finish.
