COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Monks have been brewing beer in Belgium for centuries. Their beers have been some of the most sought after in the world. Solitude is made in the tradition of the famous brewing monks of the Abbeys of Belgium. This beer is deep mahogany in color, malt forward with hints of caramel, pear & raisin.

can... dark brown with a bit of amber, light tan head that leaves some nice lacing... very spicy aroma, lots of anise, a bit of yeast, pretty decent... the taste is off, chalk, yeast, and grass, horrendous finish, very disappointing

Pours a mostly clear deep amber color, almost purple. Lots of foamy head and some stick around. Raisin and fruit aroma along with belgian yeast. Taste is very sweet at the start and then turns slightly sour. Raisins, pears, and other fruit come through. Lots of belgian yeast and salt in the finish. A pretty solid abbey ale.

This is a very fruity beer. There are the fruit notes on both the aroma and the taste. It pours brown with a very slight purple tinge to it. Reading the description, I get the raisin. But not the rest.

On tap at Vivant. Color very dark. Aroma of malt sweetness, perhaps raisin. Malt-forward taste with significant hits of caramel. A surprising favorite of my Mich beer week ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

transparent orange, white head reduces to ring quickly. Nose is earthy, lightly grassy hops, bit muted. Flavor has more sugar, paper and caramel hints behind earthy grass and clay. Low Carbonation benefits soft profile, pleasant finish.

Can thanks to Ryan. Clear, deep ruby with diminishing tan head. No retention. Super sweet malty and Starchy nose with ultra heavy dark cherry. Almost rustic, grainy Biere de Garde with oatmeal and powerful rye. Palate is Richer with big malt explosion. I like it. Not an abbey style. Way too raw malty. Should be Biere de Garde. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Medium body, warmth, and carbonation.

16oz can, shared by ryan: pours a clear deep copper amber with a spotty off-white head. Has a light biscuity caramel and light fruity nose with some dry bready character. Starts with decent fullness and mild dark caramel sweetness along with some drier earthy bitterness. Could be a little more balanced.

Pailhead (3435) - Plymouth, Michigan, USA - FEB 4, 2012
Can: The aroma consists of moderate Belgian yeast, dark fruits, nuts, and a strange soy sauce/wasabi mix. It pours dark brown with orange tinted transparency when held to the light. It has a small off-white head that quickly fades to a thin film outlined by a thicker ring. The flavor starts dark fruits, chocolate, and light Belgian yeast. The finish has light nuttiness and a touch of metal. It’s light-medium bodied with mild carbonation.
