3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
This is a dark beer that tastes a lot like coffee. It is very high alcohol percentage but it is very smooth actually. Great beer.

16oz can poured into Trappist glass.
Tart Side of the Moon pours a very dark purple to black with a pretty thin bubbly dark brown head that lasts just a little while. The aroma is molasses and dark fruit with a bit of chocolate. The flavor is molasses, dark fruit, chocolate, bread and licorice. Overall this is a pretty good brew.

Can @ Three Notch’d Tasting. Brown pour with a small head. Sort of soupy. Bizarre nose. Roasted grain with a strong herbal character. Bakers chocolate. Taste is pretty ashy. Tannic character. Very dry finish. More cocoa. Strange.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
2015-01-12. Black body with a modest tan head. 3+ The aroma has sort of a blackberry like fruit character, toasty dark malt notes. Flavour is similar lightly toasty and tangy throughout. Average plus bodied palate, moderate carbonation. Solid but doesn’t quite elevate itself to the next level. Can shared by mds.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
This black saison pours a pitch black color with half inch beige head that dissipated quickly. Nose is boozy, pungent and acidic. Balsamic vinegar, perhaps? Sweet and tart dominate the palate. Dark, tart cherries pair with bold chocolate malts. Belgian spiciness from traditional saisons is present, as is a distinct tartness. This is a truly original farmhouse ale, but maybe just a bit out of my wheelhouse.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
12/24/14. Can. Pours opaque brown-black with a thin, dark brown head. Aroma is chocolate, dark fruits, earthy, some tartness, hint of funk, just a bit musty, cherries, dark roast malts. Flavor is nice, robust; roast malt, cherries, dark chocolate, spicy, creamy, oily, bread; finish is cherries, dark chocolate. Not much lacing. Medium carbonation. Oily, full mouth feel. There’s something almost porter-like about this. This is excellent. I would drink this all day.

4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
On draft. Pours a deep plum color with a decent cocoa-khaki head that settles to a thick ring and leaves a soapy wall of lace. Nose involves toasted malt, cherry, chocolate, some mineral character, raisin, fruitcake, and cocoa. Some sweetness, fairly tart, somewhat bitter. Full bodied, soft, velvetty, with a long warm toasty and tart finish. Very dessert-like, reminiscent of chocolate covered cherries.

2 AROMA 1/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Not a huge fan of the aroma but the milky head and layers of flavor were a great combo of tart, coffee, coca and a clean finish.
