3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
16 oz can. (Sicilianoís) Grand Rapids, MI.
Tea-like bitterness, mild tart fruitiness and mild bitterness in the aroma.
Mild bitterness, mild yeast and some malt in the flavour. What Belgian IPA? Yeast IPA... thatís what it is. But not bad.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Poured out of a 16 oz can into a Belgian snifter.
A - Pours with a hazy amber body topped by a well-propotioned and durable off-white head. Excellent lacing.
Aroma: Nutty yeast aromas mix with hops, some bready malts and faint fruits. Excellent balance.
T: Nutty, yeasty, lightly funky, moderately hoppy, slightly fruity and floral. Nice complexity and good balance. The lingering, mildly bitter aftertaste is especially pleasant for this style.
M - Medium-bodied with crisp, medium+ carbonation.
Overall: a well crafted Belgian IPA worth seeking out.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Can. Amber gold pour. Big off white frothy head. Yeasty bread nose with light toasted cereal malts and just a faint scent of vegetal funk. Carbonation is soft. Initial flavours are fairly sweet and malty, but soon the medicinal hop arrives. Notes of peach, melon, and pine. A very good effort.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Vivant Flight draught. 28viii13. Potable yet underprofiled herbal IPA with some tentative Belgian yeast characteristics, but none of its complexity. Saved by traditional US hop aromas. Might benefit from more fermenting time in the tubes.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
No canning date. Bought a 16oz can for $2.79 at Fairway Sav-Mor Drugs in Eastpointe, Michigan. Poured into a Samuel Adams Perfect Pint Glass.
Appearance: Pretty clear, with some particles floating around. The beer is a sexy amber color. The light brown, soapy textured head is about two fingers or so and lasts quite awhile. Lacing is quite thick and attractive (thatís what she said...).
Smell: Wow was the first word I thought and said when I smelled this one. Truthfully, it smells a lot like apple sauce... to me, anyway, and Iíd guess thatís the yeast. There are some spices in there as well, but an apple aroma is what Iím pulling out of this the most, for sure.
Taste: The apple sauce flavor is really prominent up front, and lasts throughout the sip. On the finish thereís a very tasty malt character with a quick burst of hops. Given that this is a Belgian IPA, I was hoping the hops would come through SOMEwhere. A unique as hell beer, and I dig it. A lot. Itís easy drinking, the flavor hits you and is gone, the carbonation isnít high, the ABV isnít all that high... this is one I could drink quite a bit of. The bitterness in Triomphe is balanced out very nicely by the apple flavor, as well as the malt. The can claims the beer is "strongly bitter", but itís not. I think itís about middle-of-the-road.
Triomphe is an interesting beer that changes quite a bit as you make your way down the glass. It smells great, has a fantastic flavor, feels awesome going down... I think the Bros. gave this a more accurate rating than the majority have. Of course, thatís all subjective.
Regardless, DEFINITELY seek this one out and try it for yourself. For the love of GOD, do it! And YES, I drank this beer sober.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
16oz can. Slightly hazy orange-tan body. Big, foamy off-white head. Kind of has a flowery, sort of phenolic thing going on. Not really that impressive, sort of a let down, I expected more. The yeast is too aggressive, and it has herbal, spicy characteristics that seem out of place for the style, maybe right for a spicy US Saison.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Taster on tap at HopCat in East Lansing. Perfectly clear golden color. Little off-white head. Good spread of lace. Medium to bigger body. Smooth, crisp, lightly soft carbonation. More dry finish. Good citrus, tropical fruit, light spice, light belgian candy sugar in the aroma. Satisfyingly hoppy. Moderate bitter, light sweet taste. Lightly spicy. Great belgian IPA. Satisfyingly hoppy, with an in-check but present belgian factor.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Golden brown pour, slight haze. Four finger, off-white, highly perforated head that persists. Sweet, yeasty, bright floral nose. Faint medicinal and bubble-gum notes. Forward malt on the palate with hints of burnt candy sugar and lingering hop notes. Perfectly-balanced sweet and bitter. Beautiful, thick Belgian lace. Certainly moreish. Refreshing. The ABV is not evident. Some flocculence at the final pour.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Grand Rapids can. The can mentions a tulip glass but it also tastes good in a plastic Hampton Inn glass. Good base IPA but honestly missing the Belgian side of it. Tasty but not necessarily unique.
