3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Had at Brewery Vivant's tap room in Grand Rapids with Raith. Like a few of their other beers on tap this was cidery. And I'm a big fan of the style.

4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
A simple too-clean gold. Shockingly subdued aroma; faint hay and mead notes. Mead characteristics also dominate the the flavor - a bit of orange blossom honey, though pointedly drier than mead. A subtle and soft mouthfeel, though residual farmyard, floral, berry, and yeast hints - appreciable complexity. One of the more enjoyable tripels Iíve had. Canít get over the idea that this was just an awesome mead.

Sample at Brewery Vivant on 3/29/13. Clear gold pour with a medium off-white head. Aroma of malt, banana and caramel. Malty flavor with strong bubblegum, banana and clove accents before a sweet finish.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Slightly tart and peppery with flavors of lemon and white pepper. Okay, but not the best tripel I've ever had.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: APR 28, 2013
Can sampled in a large tulip, the can lists 8.25% alc., the Brewery Vivant website lists 9.25% alc.,
this ale had a clear yellow-gold pour with a slight orange tint, and it gave a one to two finger white head that recedes to a partial cover and ring, the glass had many single streams of bubbles, it left some spots of lacing on the sides of the glass, there was no sediment in the can,
This drink had aromas of peach, pear and faint orange fruit esters, mild malt, fruit and malt sweetness, a little spice and floral hints,
The flavors were similar to the aroma with some pepper spice and light malt,
the finish had a little bitterness and spice with fruit and sweetness trailing on the palate, there was a touch of metal flavor or something that resembled metal, not sure what it was,
The mouth feel was about medium and felt under carbonated, it was not as light on the tongue as your better tripel ales,
This drink was ok, not the best tripel ale.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
16 ounce can into chalice, no canning date. Pours fairly crystal clear golden amber color with a 1 finger dense white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with some light streaming carbonation. Aromas of pear, apple, grape, banana, clove, honey, candi sugar, light bubblegum, and earthy yeast spiciness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of malt and yeast ester notes. Taste of banana, pear, apple, clove, bubblegum, honey, candi sugar, bread, and earthy yeast spiciness. Lingering notes of banana, light fruits, clove, bubblegum, honey, candi sugar, bread, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Damn nice balance and complexity of malt and yeast ester flavors; with zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a smooth and fairly slick mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with hardly any warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is an excellent tripel! All around nice balance and complexity of flavors; and very smooth to sip on. A very enjoyable offering.
