Nice. Slightly sour. Had this at their tap room with Raith. Not sure it was supposed to be sour. But it was nice overall.

Oh, that extra little bitterness is the imperial part of this drink. Adds a bit of complexity and uniqueness although not sure if adds value. Pours a dark yellow with an effervescent white head. A little wild and funky yeast aroma. Lemon, light citrus flavors. Hint of pepper on the finish.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Sampler flight on tap at the brewery (Grand Rapids, MI). Pours a nice well hazed golden hue, dulled body with some gentle glow. Darker, a gentle frothy offwhite head atop dies to a mellow small ring, laces small. Aromas show gentle spice, a touch of pepper, gentle sweetness is dough, gentle fruit, and a mellow gentle earthy hop element, touches of apple, dough, and bread. Initial is a touch tart, a bit of apple, some gentle pear, bread and dough. Firm tartness into the middle, a touch sharp, mellow lemon, sour apple. Middle is gentle bread, dough, a thinner beer especially at 9 ABV. Some florals, grass, gentle yeastiness and sun tan lotion. Firm tartness. A touch bready, straw, gentle sweeter fruit and dough element. A bit chalky, dry, and weird as we finish. A bit tart, fresh grass and dry straw. Weird cereal feel, touch of yeastiness. Odd finish for me. A lot of promise with the tart fruit element finishes on an off note for me. Not a true saison for me, prefer a smaller ABV and more dry, session worthy beer. As it is, this is more interesting than a lot of American interpretations but overall loses me in the finish. Ok.

Pint can poured to a flute at Lunar Brewing Co., showing a hazed, orangy amber color, a fluffy hat of soft white foam, and ribbony cling to the lacing. The aroma was light at first, as warming and additional rousing helped. Some earthy, yeasty, barn yard funk, esters, orange zest, berries, and tartness were noticed. Medium to full bodied, the flavor was sweet, then tart, showed some peppery hints for the first time, and some looming alcohol presence. Full flavored, but a little astringently harsh, exhibiting an imperial heaviness to the palate. Whether an Imperial Saison, or a Belgian Specialty Ale, I’m not necessarily a fan of the style. A little tough to finish.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Cloudy burnished golden amber with a short lived head and horizontal streaks of lace. Taste begins with tart fruit and malt, followed through the palate with pepper sour apples. Apples continue through a surprisingly unwelcome finish. Points for originality, but not a satisfying brew. Not recommended.

16 ounce can thanks to BlowOffTube. Lots of carbonation in this one. Yellow body. Tons of orange peel. Nice aroma. Some tartness. Not very dry for saison, but decent overall.
