Imperial saison. Our special yeast strain gives this beer a little funkiness and is accented with tellicherry black peppercorns and orange peel. At 9% abv this is probably one of the strongest summer beers you will encounter. The boozy note adds to the overall flavor of this beer. This is the deep end of the fun pool, please use the buddy system.

Draft in snifter. I enjoyed the tartness and the high ABV variation of the style; medium spice and fruit. A bit weak on the finish.

The yeast really sets this beer apart. With a very unique...kinda funky flavor. I really enjoyed the one of a kind flavor.

Apple juice with a quickly fading white head. Aroma is herbal with mild apples and yeast and overpowered by black pepper. Taste is liquid black pepper with yeast, mild citrus and a peppery finish. One dimensional and I was unable to finish it.

Very hazy orange beer, small off white head. Mild fine carbonation in the smooth and semi dry palate. A little malt cream. Fairly intense orange and a nice kick from the pepper. Touch of lemon. Semi dry finish. Hides the abv well. Black pepper heat linger.

16oz can. Pours a bright clear orange with a white head and a lot of bubbles. Aroma is crisp, with a lot of citrus, malt, yeast, and a hint of spice. Taste has a lot of orange peel, yeast, malt, and a peppercorn bite that stays. Lingering sharp orange. Nice saison.

16oz can picked up at the brewpub. Pours a hazed, golden-orange colored body with a thin, creamy and frothy, off-white head that dissipates slowly and leaves a moderate lacing. Aroma is pretty fruity with lots of orange zest, lemons, and apple-esters with some sweet bready malts, light peppercorn notes, and yeast. Flavor is sweet and spicy with a good amount of citrus peel and orange zest. Sweet bready malts with more apple-esters, yeast, and lighter peppercorns. Finishes mostly dry with lots of fruits, a light spicing, and some sweet malts. Lengthy aftertaste following a medium-full body and a moderate carbonation. Overall, this is pretty messy and really just not my thing. Definitely not a fan of these "Imperial" Saisons. Sweet, fruity, too estery, and sloppy with the spicing. Not bad, but not very good.

16 ounce can courtesy of northernbrews. Thanks! Pours a hazy orange-yellow color with a large frothy white head. Decent head retention. Aroma of bready malts and big spice notes, including pepper and the citrus peel, as well as big citrus and stone fruit notes. The taste is bready malts, stone fruits, citrus, lemongrass and faint pepper. Medium-full bodied, slight heat. Nice beer. EDIT:: Iím glad I got this rating in before Sandy knocks out my power! Phew!

Tall boy can served in a Lost Abbey stemmed glass. A: Pours a chilled light amber color with a frothy light yellow head forming on the pour. It recedes to a solid collar with a thin film. Small splotches of lace left around the glass. S: Big funk up front with some orange zest and a pale malt backbone. Light lemon pledge, some barnyard and some fresh hay. T: Barnyard and mildly cheesy funk. Grassy fresh hay, pale malts zesty tangerine sweetness and some lemon grass with a clean finish. M: Nice light body with a bit of bite. Medium carbonation and a sweet, but clean finish. O: Nice funky saison with great citrus zest. Pretty solid start to my Brewery Vivant beers Iíve got in the fridge. Courtesy of JPDurden24. I dig the novelty of a 9% saison in a 16oz can, that is cool. The can pours up with a clear deep gold body that supports a thin off white head of foam. The aroma delivers up some earthy notes, spicy saison yeast, sweet apple like esters and a bit of lemon nuanced vinegar. The taste turned out to be similar and pulls together saison yeast spices, sweet apple and somewhat pear like fruity esters and then a mild vinegar note that holds this whole thing together.

16 oz can. Pours a light honey color. Very small white head. Unusual aroma of citus and grape. Flavor of orange, spice, and peppercorn finish. Has some thickness. Nice mouthfeel. Alcohol is very well hidden. Didnít feel like 9%. Would have liked more spice in a saison.
