Citrus and yeast... great orange hazy appearance! A little too much orange flavor for my taste.. but pretty good overall beer

A 9% saison?!?!?! dark cloudy orange. Smells like BBQ potato chips. Salty, spicy with a bit of citric acid and potatoes. Taste is loaded with flavor, lots of adjuncts and a minor booziness. The peppercorn overwhelms everything else sadly. Falls short at the finish. couldnít get through the can sadly.

16 oz. can from Binnyís, Lincoln Park, Chicago. Hazy amber color showing zero head retenetion after the pour. Nose and taste is much like a Belgian pale. Nose is a solid amount of dried fruits and pale malt sweetness. Also lots of orange zest. Orange peel/ zest is upfront in the flavor with dried fruit and sweet grain in the center of the beer. Fruit reenters with palate with light mild pepper in the finish. Medium body leaning on yeasty thickness. The only thing that distract me from this beer is a light lingering sourness that makes me question the freshness of the beer. And of course yet again, no bottle on or born on date, so no way to really know with doing a ton of brewery research. AnyhowÖ over all good, not great. This is a much better example than this breweryís Farm Hands Saison I had directly in front of this.

16 oz can from a trade with BrewJay. The pour is a clear golden with a noisy bubbly four inch slightly off white head. Falls quickly and thinly. The aroma is hay, herbal, sweet grass and warming alcohol. The taste is sharply sweet upfront, clove herbal close behind, medicinal and finishes with a weird mix of the sweet, the grass and booze. The clove of the yeast carries the long finish. The palate is medium to heavy bodied, foamy active carbonation and the yeast booze finish. These amped up Saisons are not really my thing; this beer was no exception. Regardless, thanks for this one Jay!

16 fl oz can thanks to Ryan (not on ratebeer) who brought it from MI to Sweden. Sampled on October 22, 2013.
Didnít find a BB date on the can.
Clear pale golden color, fluffy lasting off-white head. Salty, vinous, acidic, alcohol, spicy taste. Medium mouthfeel, to the full side, medium low bitterness. Spicy, orange, alcohol, sweet aftertaste. Sweet, spicy, alcohol, acidic scent.

UPDATED: DEC 6, 2013 Can: golden with a hint of orange; very hazy with a nice sized white head that leaves behind no lacing at all. Aroma is full of wheat (strange), orange zest, mild lemon peel, a touch of mild peppercorns, and a finish of herbaceous & spicy tea leaves. Flavor has background notes of banana & clove with some warming, phenol-like alcohol. Peppery spices, lemon tea, herbs, & even some very faint pineapple in the finish. Slightly bready aftertaste with some sweet esters & the smallest hint of bitterness. Slightly floral & yeasty. Decent saison, but nothing to lose your head over.

16oz can consumed on the way out of the Beirut/Vampire Weekend show at the Hollywood Bowl tonight. Aroma out of the lip of the can is a super pungent orange wild thing. No pour, except my mouth, so I can not comment on the color. Taste is awesome orange saison with a nice sweetness. This is a great beer Iíd love to get more of.

Very good aroma. Excellent citra hops. Better at the brewery, but still good out of the can.

Deep orange. Nose is initially fairly standard saison aromas but becomes odd vinyl, nail polishy. Taste is decent saison with some orange citrus. Black pepper very subtle but lost under alcohol.

My very first Saison -- $4.29 16oz can bought and poured into a Sam Adams Perfect Pint ... no canning date. Appearance: A very hazy yellow-orange color, with a tiny head that bubbles away quickly. Pretty significant, noticeable alcohol legs. The carbonation is insane on this one (Iím not sure if thatís normally how Saisons are), as it sounds like pop being poured into a glass. Extremely active carbonation at the bottom of the glass. Once I got the whole can into the glass, the carbonation went down a little bit, and the appearance changed. Smell: I definitely get the yeast in the aroma with some sort of citrus (probably the orange). The funk from the yeast is definitely the most obvious though. Taste/feel: Being my first Saison, I didnít know what to expect. At first when I poured the beer, it had a SLIGHT haze with very high carbonation. Once I poured the bottom of the can into my glass, it changed quite a bit -- the carbonation mellowed out a touch, the beer got a lot hazier, and the taste changed just a tick. The sourness comes throughout the entire sip, which I guess is supposed to happen with Saisons -- along with that, thereís a LOT of the orange flavor thatís mentioned on the label. As far as peppercorns, itís there SLIGHTLY on the finish, and in the fact that Zaison should maybe make your throat burn a bit on the swallow... well, that, and the alcohol. I really find that this almost drinks like some sort of energy drink with its pretty dominant sour orange flavor and high carbonation. Itís interesting as hell. Zaison is strangely compelling. From what I read about Saisons, this is what I expected. I donít know if they all drink just like this one, but this one truly tastes like it could be an energy drink, even with the slight boozy flavor. While Iím not too sure Iíd pick this up for the price of $4.29 a pint can, I definitely do quite enjoy it -- itís definitely unlike any beer Iíve had before, but thatís more than likely just because itís a Saison. If Iím looking for a beer thatís a little bit different, this one would be on my radar. Solid beer, even though a pint can might just be a tad too much.
