Thin oily coffee bomb with flaws. Black with brown quickly fading head. Aroma is coffee, coffee, and coffee. Taste is oddly vegetal, slightly sour, lots of coffee, heavy roast. Tastes like a poorly made home brew... Ciao

Aroma of roasted malt, lots of coffee, dark chocolate, hint of peat, hint of pepper. Flavour is moderate sweet with a moderate bitter finish. Quite tasty coffee Stout.

On tap at the Three Johns, black with a thin head and a roasty coffee nose. Dry palate with lots of coffee and cocoa, yet also burnt-bitter and faintly fruity, so somehow the mocha notes don’t overwhelm. Very nice.

Draft @ Mikkeller Bar SF on 1/19/20. Pours black with minimal tan head. Aroma is dominated by coffee and roasted malt with some chocolate. Mouthfeel is on the thin side for a stout. Flavor is coffee and hop bitterness, roasted malt and dry alcohol finish. Not a bad coffee/chocolate stout, but not nearly best in style.

Bottle. Head is initially small, frothy, light brown, mostly diminishing. Body is black (opaque, flashlight tested). Aroma is lightly malty (burnt grain), with a very strong note of chemicals (Krylon spray paint, varnish / wood stain, plaster/drywall, plastic). Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter, very unclean. Medium body, watery/oily texture, lively/soft carbonation, moderately alcoholic. A horrifically ruined batch...the nose is 99% chemical bath, no exaggeration. I’ve only had one other Brewfist beer (Spaceman), and it too had extraordinary flaws as well (2.3 quality), so something is rotten in Codogno. Two strikes of this magnitude, and these guys are out for me. Hope they figure out the source(s) of their problems someday.

12 oz bottle (thanks B&B). Pours essentially black with a decent head and some lacing. The aroma has a strong note of used coffee grinds that overpowers everything else. The flavor is better but stil unbalanced. The finish, howver is quite nice with dark malts mixing with expresso.

330 ml bottle. BB 30/06/16. At the Konttori, Tampere, Finland. Pitch black colour with a tiny dark tan head. Coffee, vanilla, dark chocolate, ashy dryness and roasted malt in the aroma. The flavour is roasted malt, ashy dryness, dark chocolate, mild vanilla sweetness, mild bitterness and some hops. I'm truly surprised to say I like this... I got this in the bargain bin at Associated (Cityfresh) in Bushwick for a whopping two dollars. Anyway, it pours black with a small tan head. Aroma is dark chocolate, coffee, and a pretty hefty hock of hops. Taste has bitterness coming from the chocolate and hoppy directions. It even has a sort of nice spicy bite to it. That said, this is still easy to drink and pleasant to imbibe.

On tap. Coffee, coffee and many more coffee! Little dark chocolate in aftertaste. Good.
