Bottle - Pours black with a tan ring of head. Nose is dark roast, burnt coffee--too burnt. Taste is burnt roast, dry, dark coffee, a little nuttiness, hazelnut, and a touch of chocolate. Medium body, slick, with medium carbonation.

Bottle @ home, from A la bière comme à la biere - Color: opaque black beer with really small carbonation and heavy brown head. Smell: chocolate domination with roasted malt and coffee with brown sugar. Very interesting!!! Taste: nice density on mouth great sensation. Smooth foam. High coffee domination with roasted malt and black bread note. Aftertaste: coffee and chocolate, that everything! Amazing beer! Great deal! Thanks

Smoky coffee on the nose. Sweet up front then bitter and malty with just hints of chocolate. The bitterness builds to the drying end. Good beer.

Dark brown and opaque. Brown head dissipates quickly. Chocolate and coffee aroma is strong and lingering. Full body with a slight bitterness from the coffee. Finish is not dry but has some ash. Pretty good balance in both flavor and finish.

Bottle from mane liquor. Pours a pitch black with a tanned head. Nose has loads of coffee, vanilla, molasses and earthy spices. Trying to find the spaghetti. Taste is a thick mouth feel. Roasted coffee and malts dominate the taste upfront. Vanilla and molasses coat the back end of the palate. Getting a dry earthy pepper bitter finish. Booze isn't overly evident. Pretty quaffable stuff. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle, shared by me... in my dining room... just now.
Pours basically black with a nice head and good lacing on the glass.

The aroma is diner coffee, some chocolate, some nice roastiness and a touch of dark berries.

The flavor has a more refined coffee character and comes of as generally less sweet and chocolaty than the aroma would have us believe. It’s got a light warming alcohol, some nice dark berry notes and a very good roasty bitterness all around.
