Milk Chocolate Stout

Malti: Pale, Crystal, Chocolate, Pale Chocolate, Wheat, Oat, Monaco, Vienna
Luppoli: Magnum

Dedicata a coloro che hanno paura delle birre scure. Dolce, complessa, ma beverina. Il lattosio e le fave di cacao la rendono morbida e profumata. Una birra per golosi...

Not great. Not your classic milk stout pours black with huge head, was quite lively out of the bottle. Thin taste chocolate and coffee but only just lacks balance or defined flavour

330 ml bottle. L2352. BB 30/08/13. (Vinmonopolet) Mo i Rana, Norway.
Black colour with some red hue and almost no head. Roasted malt, coffee and mild bitterness in aroma. Flavour is roasted malt, some bitterness and hints of chocolate. Easy and thin Stout.

Or ’Brewfist Fear Milk XhoxolartebwWightzm‏’ if you fall asleep typing, and your fingers continue spidering across the keys. Glossy black with grey floaties under a beige slick. Blackcurrant, ash and bitter chocolate aroma. Attractive blackcurrant and berry-laden undercurrents; burnt sweet pepper lightly dusted with ash and bitter chocolate; some caramel and raisin. Mellow roasted finish. Good but lacks a little body.

Bottle from Vinmonopolet. Dark brown, fizzy tan head. Dry cocoa nose. Smooth, rich chocolate flavour, not too milky or sweet.

Tap; growler @ Cellarbrations Carlisle.
Almost black and thinly looking with a diminishing, tannish head that crept a ring of froth up the meniscus. Nose is dominated by heavily roasted coffee beans, smoky phenols and charred wood with a little bitter dark chocolate and a lactic, tangy edge. Buttery, roast coffee and burnt malt palate. Deceiving as far as body as it is very light on; the carbonation had waned on this as the growler sample was half way empty. Peppery, burnt and smoky finish has a milky lactic edge to it that is low and forgivable. Not much in the way of chocolate that I could perceive. Easy drinking, but unspectacular overall. Just doesn’t come together.

Draught@Euston Tap, London. Deep brown, close to black colour with a mediumsized beigeish brown head. Aroma is roasted malts, coffee, mild lactic notes as well as some liquorice and toffee. Flavour is being rather similar in a pleasant balance. Rather ashy notes as well towards the finish.

330ml bottle. Pours very dark brown with a medium head. Aroma is sweet dry roast with some dark berries. Taste has dry roast throughout with a sweet, milky finish. Far too much carbonation.

Bottle 33cl, a dark beer with low head, nose is intense on roasted notes. Aroma is dry and roasted, acrid, more a dry stout than a milk one, no sweetness not creamy, basic.
