Bottle, Domus Birrae, Roma. Shared with Slothez over Superbowl weekend. What a great name for a beer, er fill me up barman.. Deep dark brown pour with a meek tan head. Resinous hop, chocolate and citrus present in the beak. Plenty more of the same flavour-wise alongside roasted malts and tropical fruits. Good balance and a very tasty take on the style from a first rate brewery.

On tap @ Crowbar. Almost black body with a small beige head. Aroma is nice with light roasted dark malt and pine, not much more really but it sure feels good in the nose. Sweet, roasted malt flavor, some toast, dry fruit, pine and good bitterness. Fine balanced body with a good bitter aftertaste. A nice one.

Bottled from Biernavigatie, BB 30 05 14, large sample, served in a shaker. Pours a dark brown colored beer with a big rocky light brown head. Aroma of soft roasted malts, piney hops, some grapefruit, tropical fruit. Fruity and roasted notes seem to balance quite well. Medium bitter in taste, some roast, quite some caramelly sweetness to back up the bitterness. Finishes slight dry. Body seems a bit thinnish, medium carbonation. Brewers are getting the combination and balance better and better last year(s). Same goes for this one, very decent beer.

On tap @ Borefts 2013. A deep dark not far off black one with a small sidesticking light brown top. Smells of light sweet milk chocolate with a hoppy grassy background. Also hints of licorice detected. Nice. It has a somewhat strong hoppy flavor and the licorice is in the taste also. Above average on the carbonation and oily in the mouth. A little bit of chocolate wrapper also in the taste before it ends with traces of old cold coffee. It’s not a bad one this. 27.09.2013

Pours dark brown with a tan head. Aroma has notes of malt, caramel, citrus, orange and peach. Taste is medium sweet and medium bitter with a long citrus finish. Body is medium, texture is thin to oily, carbonation is soft.

Bottle at praha, tampere. Black color, small white head. Aroma is almost stout, malty, roasty, coffee, some fruits. Roasty body, nicely hopped, fruity, some coffee. 70% stout 30% ipa but it works.

On tap at Crowbar. A very dark brown beer with a small beige head. The aroma is lightly roasted, with some pine notes. Coffee and a touch of anise. Roasted flavor with licorice and pine cones. Nice hoppy bitterness. Roasted finish. A decent one, but nothing impressive going on. 140501

Small beige head. Opaque black body. Roasty earthy orangey aroma with mealy plastic notes. Dry-sweet roasty earthy dusty taste with resiny notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, soft mouthfeel. Dry salty roasty earthy aftertaste with chocolate and toasted grain notes, with a kind of orangey background. A new interpretation of black IPA, at least to me, and one that works for me. (0.33l bottle, from wine monopoly, Vika, Oslo.)
