3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Darker than many BIPAs, this one is almost black. The light-brown head is a bit small and short-lived, but it laces the glass well. The aroma is strong and mainly roasted with coffee, but with a firm fruity backdrop. Actually, after a while (and after having tasted the beer) I find the aroma more and more hoppy. In addition this smells of alcohol and sweat, nah... The taste is moderate to light sweet and the long finish is sharp, grassy and herbal heavy to moderate bitter, in other words not particularly pleasant. Fruity flavour with roasted coffee and too much alcohol. Apart from the too demanding finish, the mouthfeel is pleasant. The body is close to full, the texture is smooth and oily and the carbonation is moderate to soft. A decent beer, but still one of the least successful BIPAs I’ve had.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
12oz bottle poured into a pint glass. Black oily pour, thin tan head, nice lacing. Big pine aroma, floral, chocolate and roasted malt flavor in the taste. The rye doesn’t balance with the other notes here and throws off the finish.

For someone who generally thinks that IPAs are a bit hoppy, this beer is surprisingly tasty. I’d get it again for sure

33cl bottle from Vinmonopolet, Vika. Pours black with a tan head. Hoppy aroma with dark malts, quite fruity, some tropical fruits, hints of citrus and pine, licorice and dark chocolate is also present. Fairly sweet with nice mixture of dark malty and hoppy flavours. Well balanced and very pleasant. Finishes medium bitter with citrussy and roasty notes. Fairly short aftertaste, but a nice BIPA.
