Bottle from Bier-Deluxe. Black with a lasting light brown head. Aroma is sweet, roasted malt and moderate hoppy - pine and citrus. Flavor is quite sweet and rather bitter. Dry and rather bitter finish. 030715

Very dark brown color. Citrus and caramel hops in aroma. Smoked malt, coffee, citrus hops. And so great coffee finish. Very good.

Draft. Poured clear dark brown color with an average frothy tan head that lasted and produced excellent lacing. Moderate to heavy complex toasted malt and earthy hop aroma. Medium body with a slick texture and soft carbonation. Medium toasted bittersweet flavor with a medium to heavy bittersweet finish of moderate duration.

3oz on tap at Ei8ht Ball. Good earthy hop and roast in the nose. Dark brown, slight red hue. Light only comes through around the edges. Thin khaki head. Leaves some loose ropes of lace. In the flavor, nice roastiness, dark chocolate, some coffee, mild smoke. Medium-plus body. Smooth, kind of creamy lighter carbonation. Moderate bitter taste, moderate-plus sweet. The alcohol works well, not overly sweet, though a mild sweet bite does surface at the end of my sample. Mild spiciness. Touch of raisin. Drinks like it could be 7.5%. Solid black IPA.

Pitch black, nice offish head. Smell is citric bitterness with some meatiness and oily leather and resin. Hints of smoke. Quite metallic and crisp. Taste is very dry and bitter with some ash and coffee and later some chocolate. Finish is astringent but quite smooth. Citric and with hints of wood.

Gedronken van de tap in Beer Temple in Amsterdam. Een mooie complexe dark IPA, geur en smaak zijn hoppig en bloemig, en in de smaak valt ook de smaak van drop op. Heel lekker, een topper!

33 cl Bottle from Miorge-Mihoublon, Arlon, Belgium. Aroma has a nice balance between floral notes, hop notes and cereals. It pours a magnificent dark brown. The taste is very nice : hop/bitter attack which rather stays in front of the mouth but followed by sweet cereals/coffee. This balences the beer greatly. Texture is nice and smoothe and finnish is quenching. Brewfist outdid themselves again !

Draught pint at Wildfire Kitchen + Bar, Singapore on 16/05/16. Dark brown, almost black in colour with a small tan coloured head which quickly disappeared. Medium to full body with soft to medium carbonation. Aroma of hops, roasted malt and dark fruits. Flavours of roasted malt and grain, coffee, and more subtlety citrus and hops. Bitter with a bittersweet finish.

Bottle (33cl). Half-inch sticky beige head, reluctantly receding to a thick bubbly layer, leaving some lacing. Dark brown, almost black colour. Soft and intriguing aroma with lightly smoked wood, lactose, licorice, grain. Hops are pretty camouflaged, probably unintended for this style. Medium body, lively-soft carbonation. Well-balanced taste, sweetish and malty upfront, then gradually drier with associations to raw licorice and coal. Tongue-dryingly bitter finish. More stout than IPA, but very nice indeed.
