Bottle from Asahiya. Dark chocolate notes in aroma, along with hints of coffee. Very dark brown with translucent edges, little head. Smooth chocolate roast malt, gets a bit rougher as the hopping emerges, some spice from rye, finish is a bit boozy and fairly bitter, and then smooth in final. Medium body. Quite tasty. Nice take on the style (not citrusy).

From Craftissimo. Smells relatively faint but very sweet - liquorice, brandy, dark and fermented fruit. Tastes of dessert wine (alcohol, sweetness), some sourness/acidity, bitter finish. Body is medium and slick. Plenty of big flavours but slightly too raisiny sweet/sour for me, esp. for a black IPA for which I expect more hop and balance.

Bottle from Craftissimo at home. Solid black pour with dissipating tan head. Roasted aroma with a bit of licorice, soy, and faint hops. Taste is crisp/sharp sour - more sour than sour hops - then roasted flavors with a mildly hoppy bitter finish. Almost more of a hoppy porter than black IPA - not bad but not great.

From a bottle. So smooth for such a strong beer, rich malt flavours with a bitter chocolate and coffee aftertaste. A mild sweet aroma, dangerously drinkable, this is a great beer.

Completely dark and non-transparent beer. Has a good nice white head and unbelievable lacing. Froth sticks to whole glass, from the top to the bottom.

8% 880 yen or so from Asahiya. A pitch black pour with a big frothy beige head. Roasty chocolate with some hints of white grape in the nose plus subtle pine. The flavor is sweet, syrupy bitter dark chocolate lots of umami savouriness again that white grape taste appears and in the finish you get some bitterness. An interesting take on a black IPA though it is 60 IBUs it is balanced and not terribly bitter. More fruity chocolate & savoury.
