Bottle (33cl). Half-inch sticky beige head, reluctantly receding to a thick bubbly layer, leaving some lacing. Dark brown, almost black colour. Soft and intriguing aroma with lightly smoked wood, lactose, licorice, grain. Hops are pretty camouflaged, probably unintended for this style. Medium body, lively-soft carbonation. Well-balanced taste, sweetish and malty upfront, then gradually drier with associations to raw licorice and coal. Tongue-dryingly bitter finish. More stout than IPA, but very nice indeed.

Bottle. Aroma orange, tangerine, nicely hoppy. Very dark colour. Taste is assertively hoppy, lots of bitterness and hops flavour, mostly grassy, but also citrusy, resiny. Quite good CDA.

Bottle kindly shared by Miro, many thanks. Very dark brown color with light beige head. Caramel, citrus hops in aroma. Roasted malt, coffee, citrus hops. Nice hoppy bitterness in coffee bitter finish. Very good.

Great, great black looks. Very hoppy, dark malts, foresty, cheesy yeast. Bit rough but rich tasting. Very creamy drinkable palate, despite the active carbonation. This is really my style and it’s a good example on how black IPA isn’t just a hoppy stout or a dark coloured ipa. Yum! (33cl bottle from Saveur Bičre)

Fľaša. Čierna farba, hnedá pena. Vôňa pražených sladov, kávy a prezretého ovocia, v pozadí veľa chmeľu. Chuť prezretého ovocia, jemne pražených sladov a kávy. Dlhá jemne pikantná horká dochuť, dosť veľa sladkého drievka.

Bottle. Dark body, medium tall beige head. Aroma has plenty of hops and some sweat. Feels kind of mild and green, maybe they should have used more bitter hops. Sweet dark roasty/hoppy taste with some cocoa. Medium hoppy finish but the bitterness is still kind of limp. Maybe it has started to decline due to the age but when you say your product is fit for consuming for a certain amount of months then it better will be. Drinkable but nothing really stands out. Kind of boring, to be honest.

Draft @ beer temple. Dark brown pour, white head. Aroma of licorice and hop. Taste is sticky, with salty licorice, salmiak, hop and little coffee. Not bad, but a bit too much licorice.

Scopey (12711) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - MAY 2, 2015
Draught at Moeder Lambic, Fontainas. It pours darkest brown with a small beige head. The nose is bitter-sweet, rich roast, stewed orange, tangerine, sherbet, parma violets, candied peel and light coffee. The taste is bitter, rich roast, earthy, toasty stuff, pine needles, coffee, tar, charred wood, pepper and cocoa with a dry, roasty finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Pretty solid black IPA.

Piana jasno brązowa, obfita, drobno i średnio pęcherzykowa, trwała, barwa ciemno brązowa, prawie czarna, z rubinowymi refleksami, mętna. W aromacie cytrusy, żywica, czekolada, owoce tropikalne i palone ziarno. Piwo dość pełne w odbiorze, czuć żyto w zasypie, wyczuwalna słodycz w typie imperialnej IPA. Czuć i owoce typu mango, papaja i kakao, i likier czekoladowy. Goryczka średnia, likierowo-pestkowo-ziołowa. Wysycenie raczej niskie. Alkohol wyraźnie grzeje, w smaku wyczuwalny w postaci likieru. W afterteasie mango i trawiasta goryczka.
