COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

Poured black and a beige head. Lots of dark chocolate, coffee, licorice, molasses, and pecan in the aroma. Fairly light body with medium carbonation. Easy to drink, loved it.

Bottle. Pours black, quite thin, sparkling, head disappears quickly. Smell is yeasty mocha. Quite nice. Body is medium to light. Taste is coffee, yeast, trace of alcohol and smoke. None of the chocolate that I smelt. Good beer.

Bottle from Dranken Geers, Oostakker, nr Gent, Belgie, consumed at home Sunday 8th September 2013 Pours dark brown with large beige head. Aroma is milky coffee, molasses and treacle, there is also an underlying smokiness on the nose although Loz’s joss-stick might be affecting my smell a little. Taste is initially black treacle but then the milky coffee comes through, you can taste the strength, mmhh... fine and even good but not as good as the Lambeth Walk porter from By The Horns that I’ve just had. Brune-noire rougeâtre, pétillance légère, col brun moyen. Malts caramel rôtis et réglisse d’entrée, notes de fruits foncés, trop peu de nuance.

kramer (4866) - Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 3, 2013
Bottle. Pours a clear dark brown body under a small fizzy light brown head that faded to a thin ring. The nose is very intense and strong, lots of chocolate and licorice with some light alcohol and dark fruits. The flavor is equally intense, tons of burnt caramel and chocolate malt, some roast, coffee, and moderate alcohol. Finishes with a bit of an earthy yeast note, lingering licorice, and a slight kick of alcohol. Medium bodied, just shy of chewy, with a slightly sticky finish. Fizzy active carbonation. Pretty decent beer, better than expected.

Black with a brown head - roasted malt aroma - roasted malt body with some bitterness - roasted malt goes into the finish - this was good
