Purchased at La Cave a la Bulles in Paris, FR; enjoyed at home on a cool spring Saturday while watching baseball. Appearance is a dark black with a thin white head that rims around the glass. Aroma of roasted, bitter chocolate malt, I’m also getting a very faint mint aroma, maybe a little bit of coffee, smell is very nice. Taste is lightly bitter and goes down dry with roasted chocolate malt notes, not much carbonation. Pretty good stuff!

In bottle. Smells like grass and endives. Tastes like endives and charcoaled biscuit. A bit hoppy. A very well-balanced and tasty porter.

Bottle. Black. Loads of dry burnt rubbery salty licorice on nose. Body is full, salty roasty goodness. A bit oily, but bitter. Doesn’t pretend to be soft, easy, but rather agressive, handing out punches in all directions.

Bottle from Rehills, Newcastle. A black brown-beer that pours with a thin tan head. It has very strong, rich liquorice flavours, milk chocolate notes, red fruit and coffee on the finish.

Pours black with an off-white head. Taste is lots of malts, chocolate, bit of sugar, coffee, bit hoppy and some salt. Nice bitter finish. Really like this one. Nicely balanced.

Dorqui (2056) - Brescia, ITALY - APR 1, 2013
Bottled 0,33L - . Dark brown color, much deep and impenetrable, nice and foamy nut head of long resistance. Very braced and alcoholic aroma; notes of roast caramel, smoked cereals and wood. Powerfull and solid body, medium crisp with a decided and round body with notes of roast caramel, ash, scorched wood. Long final but a lot unbalanced for my taste.

RichardW (1370) - Carlisle, Cumbria, ENGLAND - MAR 29, 2013
bottle, Rehills, Ncl. Pours a medium oily jet black with little to no head. Whisky notes, bitter roast flavours, rich coffee and cocoa in there too. The finish is long and moreish, with just a touch of warmth late on. A great porter, too drinkable for the ABV.....

Bottle 33cl, a dark beer with low head. Nose is very roasted and coffee like. Aroma is very roasted and coffee like too, texture is oily, bit sharp with ashes touch, finish is bitter with dry feeling and again roasted notes, no fruit notes.
