3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: SEP 19, 2016 Tap (Tuulensuu, Tampere) (6:5:7:4:14=3.6)
Lovely black, dark tight tan head. Lovely soft roast. Taste also mellow roast, but finish has huge levels of liquorice. Dry earthy hops. Covers the alcohol well. It’s a very heavy roast, but not ashy. A big glass of this was not a problem. Chocolatey later.
Rerate: 330ml bottle (Koht, Tallinn) BB2015/01, drunk 2016/10 (7:5:7:4:14=3.7)
Opens with a lovely red winey aroma. Pours witha huge fairly persistent tight tan head. In the glass there’s lots of dark berries, but a lovely roast too, quite chocolatey. Taste starts enormously darkly roasted, but those berries are back, redcurrants and maybe some purple grapes. Palate is fairly light because the carbonation is quite high. Finish still has the lovely bitter bite, as proper traditional hopping doesn’t fade. Aroma hops are for wusses. Finish preserves the burnt and chocolatey taste too. Well, they can rewrite the BB date on their beers - this is better than ever, and shows no sign of stopping that improvement.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle from Yamaichi, a dark black pour with a thick creamy tan head into a snifter that leaves minimal lacing behind. The aroma is umami, chocolate and a herbal note almost mint like or peppery quite intriguing. Nice creamy silky full body & mouthfeel. The taste is roasty, milk chocolate with that same peppery quality & a touch of soy. Some warming, all in all a well made beer from Brewfist.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Eccezziunale veramente!

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from Yamaichi. Big smooth, substantial chocolate nose, creamy as if oats were added, some fumes. Dark translucent brown, thin head. Slightly rough roast malt initial, soy sauce, alc. warmth. Medium-heavy body. Slick and silky from mid palate onwards. Solidly made. Really seems like an oatmeal stout.
