Tap @ Mikkeller Bar, Viktoriagade. Pours deep chestnut to black with a small, creamy, beige film head. Aroma has dark chocolate, chestnuts, cocoa, light vinious, a hint of metal. Low, prickly carbonation, fine dry and quite creamy mouthfeel. Flavour has initial smoke, roasted malts, dark chocolate, walnuts. Lingering malty bitter with some citrus. Very elegant beer.

Draft. A black beer with a thin dark brown head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt, bread. Alcohol, and chocolate. The flavor is sweet with notes of roasted malt, alcohol, and chocolate, leading to a dry roasted finish.

Bottle from Birra ed oltre, Naples
Dark, almost opaque brown color, small off-white head. Milky, toasted, a bit ashy and licoricey aroma. Medium-bodied. Flavor has almost burned dark malts, bitterness, coffee and alcohol. Slightly tarry, perhaps a bit milk stouty too. Quite strong and intensive porter but more on malty than hoppy side.

(Keg at Kitty’s, 20131125) The beer poured black. Its head was medium sized and light brown. Aroma had burnt malts, liquorice and chocolate. Palate was full bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were burnt malts, liquorice, saltiness, ash, hops and bitterness. Aftertaste had roasted malt, liquorice and bitterness. A very tasty and balanced roasty brew.

Bottle @ dEnk’s, thanks! Black pour, thin tan head. Aroma is roasty, chocolate, caramel, coffee and spicy. Flavor is bitter, roasted, some molasses, licorice and quite dark. Smooth and well balanced.

Very close to black body with a small, short-lived, medium brown head that reduces to a partially covering layer, some lacing. Amazing and intense aroma with roasted aroma with dark caramel and dark chocolate. Coffee, liquorice and smoke in the back. The taste is moderate sweet and the long-lasting finish is heavy to light bitter. Very strong flavours that follow the aroma, but with more coffee and also some dark berries. Fairly well-hidden alcohol. Close to full-bodied, oily texture and very soft carbonation. A wonderful brew!

Bottle @ home. Schiuma beige, finissima, quasi cremosa, molto persistente.
