On tap in Beer Temple. Poured dark with a small tan head. Aroma of milk chocolate, roast malt and vanilla. Slightly weak body, flavour is similar to the aroma with a hint of berry fruit.

Deep black color with creamy low head. Aroma reminds me of cold coffee, with roasty character, little bit of smokey too. A lot like cold coffee. Taste has a lot of chocolate, coffee, espresso like character, from licorice to dark chocolate. Pretty good. Medium earthy bitterness in the after taste. Body is full, medium carbonation, oily texture, with evident alcohol in the taste.

Bottle. Very dark brown, small to average and fully diminishing light brown head. Moderate to full, malty and sweetish aroma, some caramel and roasted malt with some coffee, light chocolate. Body is medium to full, malty and sweetish flavor, some caramel and light roasted malt with some coffee. Finish is average, malty and sweetish, some caramel and roasted malt, light coffee and faint hoppyness. Sweetish and bit thin strong porter with caramel. Could use more body and some bitterness. Too sweet for me.

Tap at Churchkey. Pours deep, dark brown with fizzy tan head. Aroma is lightly roasted malts, chocolate, prunes, fig, and some earthiness. Flavor matches the nose with dry, roast malts forward, chocolate, light earthy bitterness, faint ash, and faint dark fruit esters; dry finish. Medium body and carbonation.

Draft at Churchkey. Pours very dark brown with a fizzy beige head and nice lacing. Tastes like strong, astringent booze, pungent raisin and dried fruits. Light/medium body and carbonation. Smells like light bitterness, light booze.

Don’t get to try strong porters that often and this one was a bit of a letdown. It certainly hides the booze well - it doesn’t taste like a strong porter. Some roast here. Tap at Churchkey.
