COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

Bottle. Pours opaque black with tan head, vanishing to nothing. Aromas of wood, choc, light woody evergreen hop character. Med full body, chewy creamy mouthfeel very satisfying complex. Chocolate creamy hoppy notes dominate and linger through the finish lightly sweet and hoppy.

19th Aug 2015: Shrewsbury Bottle Exchange meeting, cheers Paolo for this offering. Poured very dark brown/black with a tanned brown head. Aromas of dark berries, chocolate, vanilla and roasted maltiness. Taste followed along the same lines, semi-sweet dark fruits and molasses compete for attention in this impressive brew. Another good, solid Italian beer.

From cask at Ma Che Siete Venuti a Fà Aroma: dark chocolate, dark fruits, dryed cherries, vanilla Taste: moderate sweeteness, light sourness (berries), light to moderate bitterness. Flavour: sweet wine, dried cherries, sweet robusta. Very good and complex, but not sure about those sour notes.

The bottle popped, smoked, then exploded in foam. I had it in my fridge several days, so it was settled. No matter. Once I got it in a glass, the head disappeared quickly. Jet black. Caramel and coffee aroma. Flavor is alcohol, coffee, caramel, metal. Way too carbonated. Just OK.

Bottle 33 cl. Pours a clear reddish brown with a five finger head from a normal pour, clearly some carbonation issues here, and the bottle keeps slowly leaking foam. Lovely sweet roast in the nose. Rich body, clearly a bit overcarbonated, dried dark fruits and a fusty touch. Something not quite right here. 070715

Coarse light brown foam. The aroma is dominated by tobacco and dark chocolate. The flavor is mild coffee with good dark bitter chocolate and a little English licorice. A little fat oily mouth feel and excellent roasted malt notes leading to a semi-dry aftertaste is reminiscent of leather. Carbonation is very gentle and provides space for its little heavy, but certainly tasty flavors where the chocolate and coffee that keeps best at aftertaste. Full-bodied and warming Imperial. A cozy meeting with an Imperial from Italy, which do not immediately associate with a country that has great brewing traditions.
