3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Sammy (6119) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JUL 31, 2011
A passable IPA, at the brewpub. The only half-interesting brew here this day. Off-notes, vegatable like, so orange from Amarillo, dry hopped cascade, and cabbage. A little hop and also funk in aroma. Its hoppy though. Copper colour, white head and lace sheet. IBU 60.Not overcarbonated as its sister beers.OK drinkability.
2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 mnurda (784) - Winnipeg, Manitoba, CANADA - MAY 30, 2011
On tap at the chateau whistler. Full bodied. Well carbonated. Nicel hopped. Lacking something though
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20 tiggmtl (4475) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - MAY 15, 2011
Strong pungent citrus and tropical fruits in the nose. Hazy copper-tan coloured body is topped by a generous and long lasting off-white head that coats the sides of the glass with lacing. Tropical fruits, citrus and pungent spicy pine hop flavours complement the caramel and biscuity malts and fruity esters. Some light farmy character in the aftertaste reminiscent to me of Frontenac malts. Medium body with moderate carbonation. Excellent! Looks like Beatty street’s loss is Whistler’s gain! Sampled on tap at the brewpub.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 fiulijn (10383) - Como, ITALY - MAR 30, 2011
Draught at the brewpub Cloudy orange-amber color. The aroma is very nice, hoppy, fruity, oranges and mango. Strong toffee flavor, some residual sweetness; powerful hopping, very resiny, a bit piney, light fruits; extreme bitterness. Rough but enjoyable.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20 Jur (12) - NETHERLANDS - MAR 21, 2011
Straight shooting IPA, with a nice fresh hoppy taste. Bit one-dimensional though and a bit high in alcohol for my taste. What is really nice is that it’s fairly low in carbonation, which makes it really pleasant to drink. Would order it again!
ABV:7%
IBU: 60
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 manuchampions (1163) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - DEC 3, 2010
Sample at Whistler brewpub. Okay, here’s the story. I’m guessing this is one of the breweries pre-existing IPA’s rebranded either for the Olympics or post Olympics...or perhaps it is a new recipe...not sure. Regardless, after enjoying 5 of the other pub’s offerings I got ready to enjoy this one only to have my lovely wife accidentally dump the entire 6oz into my lap. Oops! Fortunately the waitress took pity on me and my wet crotch and got me another.
Pours a dark golden with one inch off white head. Aroma is west coast hops with a faint malt back. Taste is pleasing in bitterness, hops are very evident but satisfyingly balanced by the malt back. This is a pretty well crafted IPA and certainly tastes fresh. When I get a fresh pair of pants I might go back for more.
