4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
A good IPA with a somewhat narrow hop flavor profile. It’s called a double, but the ABV is only 7.7%. The big bitterness is enjoyable, but a bit unbalanced.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Great aroma upon cracking open the bottle. Pine, grapefruit, sweetness. The sweet smell doesn’t show i p much in the flavor, but a bit of a metallic hop presence does. Overall, good stuff.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Sampled at Mass Brewers Fest ’14. Pours light orange with a small white head. Heady floral and pine resin aroma. Little less pine and a little more earth in the taste. Malty background. Medium bodied with a lingering bitterness.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
bomber into a glass. Pours a hazy light orange. Lacing is plentiful, sticks to glass profoundly, head is 3cm and off white. Aroma is soft citrus, prominent hops, and then malt push in the end. Taste is mild bitterness in the essence of hops and orange. Theres no real imperial push, but a profound ipa nonetheless. Bitter and citrus aftertaste, friendly and somewhat chewy aspect to the overal satisfaction of the taste, this is nice, solid and enjoyable. Royals win.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle shared with Jcwattsrugger. Pours orange gold with white head. Nose/taste of dank orange peel, caramel malt, grapefruit and resin. Medium body. Initially, had a harsh barley after taste. However, after letting it breathe for about 15-20 minutes, that disappeared and this was a solid IIPA. My initial rating was a 3.2 before letting it breathe.

From the 650 ml. bottle dated April 7, 2014. Serve at 48 degrees they recommend. Well, not sure if I served it at that temperature but it was probably close. Color is a hazy copper yellow with a tremendous fluffy white head. The aroma is of grapefruit, pine, and other hops but not exploding in my face because I also pick up a nice amount of malts. The body is smooth and around medium. The taste well-balanced with a toasted malt flavor and a piney bitterness at the finish.

2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Beer was bottles over 4 months ago, so take that into account. Poured okay, with some lacing. Aroma didn't have as much citrus and hoppyness as I expect from a DIPA. Beer is somewhat lacking in depth and flavor. Good bitterness with strong grapefruit peel on ending. That's about all I'm getting. I'll try it again when I can find a fresher bottle.

3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
A little disappointing since this is my local brewery (although it is actually brewed in nearby Holyoke). As noted, it’s orangey colored, has a thin head and the flavor is mainly bitter and hoppy. On the other hand it is light bodied, smooth drinking and has not the slightest hint of its 7.7% ABV.
I will probably stay away from this one because it is unusually expensive for what it is. And, naturally, if I had brewed this myself, I would consider it the world’s greatest beer.
