Stray Dog Lager is made with two row barley, crystal malt, and munich malt. A high mash temperature allows for the extraction of non-fermentable sugars to create thick body. This is where Stray Dog Lager gets its distinctively malty flavor. Four varieties of hops are also added in three steps. The month-long fermentation and lagering process allows the flavor to mellow. Stray Dog Lager is best served at forty degrees and pairs well with chicken, pork, or lightly-spiced food.

Clear amber color with a white head. Wheat and grain with hints of lager yeast on the nose. Well-balanced with a sweet touch on the palate.

Nice malty flavors of toffee and caramel present. Crisp and refreshing with a moderately sweet finish. For the style this is pretty well crafted.

Amber Lager, smooth, good malty & hopiness balance. If you like dos Equis Amber or Yuengling lager, you will love the similar styled brew. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

An amber body with a white head that was really foamy and faded to a thick inch. Great retention and lace. Aroma was mostly sweet from caramel malts. There was a mild presence of toasted malts and a bit of corn. Flavor was crisp and well balanced. Sweet caramel malts paired well with toasted malts and I found the corn notes to be almost complimentary. Smooth finish. Nice beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12oz bottle. Poured a medium to dark amber with very little head. Very malty lager with notes of toffee and bread. Good example of the dortmunder style. Not one of the better Brewmaster Jack brews I have tasted so far though.

Sea salt and cracked pepper and wet paper aroma. Weird. Basic clear amber appearance. Sharp bitter, husky hop taste. Light but crisp body. Spicy and strange, doesn’t seem like a normal infection, though, something else afoot. Can’t say I mind it though.

Really great beer, when you get the right batch. Batches can be hit or miss, with bad ones tasting like they were either lagered too warm, or need to age a bit longer before hitting the shelves. Often has a metallic and green flavor. But when I get a good batch, it’s fantastic. I really like these brews, and I think Tyler knows his recipes very well, so it may just be a lagering problem. Constructive criticism here! I really want to see this brewery succeed.
