COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Stray Dog Lager is made with two row barley, crystal malt, and munich malt. A high mash temperature allows for the extraction of non-fermentable sugars to create thick body. This is where Stray Dog Lager gets its distinctively malty flavor. Four varieties of hops are also added in three steps. The month-long fermentation and lagering process allows the flavor to mellow. Stray Dog Lager is best served at forty degrees and pairs well with chicken, pork, or lightly-spiced food.

12oz bottle. Poured a medium to dark amber with very little head. Very malty lager with notes of toffee and bread. Good example of the dortmunder style. Not one of the better Brewmaster Jack brews I have tasted so far though.

Sea salt and cracked pepper and wet paper aroma. Weird. Basic clear amber appearance. Sharp bitter, husky hop taste. Light but crisp body. Spicy and strange, doesn’t seem like a normal infection, though, something else afoot. Can’t say I mind it though.

Really great beer, when you get the right batch. Batches can be hit or miss, with bad ones tasting like they were either lagered too warm, or need to age a bit longer before hitting the shelves. Often has a metallic and green flavor. But when I get a good batch, it’s fantastic. I really like these brews, and I think Tyler knows his recipes very well, so it may just be a lagering problem. Constructive criticism here! I really want to see this brewery succeed.

Very smooth lager. Peppery aroma and a malty full bodied taste. It is a must try for any lager fans. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle at the Beer Shop, East Longmeadow, MA during a meet the brewer event, 19/05/13. Lightly hazed golden with a thin white head. Nose is dominated by pale malts and citrus. Taste comprises light caramel, pale malts, citrus, touch of sugar. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, crisp finish. Ok helles.

Bottle courtesy of Doodler (thanks Scott) poured a clear golden amber with a lasting ivory head. Aromas of bread, spicy hops, light straw and light earthiness. Palate was liught bodied and crisp with a dry finish. Flavors of bread, yeast, funky citrus and light earthiness with a crisp dry finish. Possibly infected, not a gusher but poured slowly it still had a humongous head.

Generous extra from Eric, thank you. Poured a dark amber, no head in sight. Smell of malt and soured yeast. Taste was very malty and left me with a slightly bitter after taste. Nice to try, but wouldn’t seek this one out again

On tap at Barleyfest - Hadley, MA. Aroma gives some odd pepper and herbs. Flavors give a distinct greenness over terse and bitter malt. I think this is young, or poorly lagered. The cleanliness of the maltiness is absent and its run amok with spiciness and odd off flavors. Needs time.
