(Rating #5526)

My Bottom Line:
Nicely chocolate flavors become roasty in the finish for a wealthy example of the style.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A brownish head of foam covers the blackness.
-This is on the sweet side for a Porter.
-Vanilla fruitiness is hallucinated.
-This is very close to being a dessert brew.

On tap at The Dirty Truth.

UPDATED: FEB 23, 2014 $4.70 for the 650 mL bottle purchased from Quality Liquors on the 4th. To oversized snifter, it pours an oily jet black, with which a sudsy, off-khaki head 1½ fingers in length stood. Aromas of caraway seeds, cracked wheat, melanoidin malt, fried bananas, toasted breadcrumbs, candied sugar, lactose, hay, salted caramel, and beach sand. Tastes of everything described with the addition of sourdough bread, pumpernickel, autumnal leaves, and melted wax. Certainly has this acidic note by swallow I couldn’t let escape my memory. Toasty and easily drinkable. Mmmmm.

22oz bottle with a bottling date of 11/13. Pitch black pour with dark tan head. Lots of rye flavor in this one and it goes well with burnt malt flavors. Notes of coffee, chocolate and even licorice.

silky smooth. slight rye spice is perfectly balanced by notes of chocolate, cofee, and roasty, malty goodness. lactose sugars add a rich, velvet finish very reminiscent of milk stouts. a home run.

nanobrewery. heavy on the rye with this porter. Deep dark color and an aroma like rye bread. heavy malt and spice with just light tinges of chocolate. Very full bodied but still easy t get back. Extra points for being different.

On tap at ACBF 6/1/2013 Nice chocolate malt flavor and aroma offset with a spicy earthy bite. Creamy silky smooth mouthfeel. Nice porter, a little different, but I enjoyed it.

Bottle at the Beer Shop, East Longmeadow, MA during a meet the brewer event, 19/05/13. Mid black with a dirty tan head. Nose is roast malt, liqourice, chocolate, rye notes. Taste comprises roast malt, chocolate, molasses, mineral tones, sugars. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, roasty finish. A very decent porter and by far and away the best of the 3 Brewmaster Jack beers I tried out on this day.

22oz bottle in a stem glass. Pours very dark brown with a lacy, tan head. Aroma of chocolate, roasted malts, grains, a little smokiness, and a light bitterness. Flavor about the same with a nice blend, but some off-notes as well. Average texture. An interesting beer, but something is just a little off about it.
