Kind of new to this but suffice it to say this is a complex beer with a lot going on. Lots of body, great aroma, Dairy comes to mind which is bizarre as it has no taste of dairy. Nice, light CO2 mouth-feel with just a pleasant flavor, and at only 6.0% ABV, it’s very easy to drink. I like it a lot. An all-around nice Porter.

Wonderful full English malt aroma with a hint of earthy spice from the eye. Served cold so the head did not persist. Tasted malty but that same spicy note dried out the palate nicely. Got better as it warmed up. Chicolaty too ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle at home. Pours dark brown with brown head. Nose/taste of rye, roast chocolate, pumpernickel, coffee, cocoa nib and sweet milk chocolate. Roasted grain/chocolate in finish and touch of toasted coconut. Medium body.

22 oz. bottle from Julio’s. Pours dark brown, almost black, with some chestnut edges. One finger tan head the leaves copious lace. Chocolate malt aroma with coffee and rye. Think drinking chocolate milk while eating a piece of pumpernickel bread. Flavor is to the sweet side of spicy, must be the rye, with a touch of coffee bitterness. Body is to the full side and creamy. Interesting porter. Unique.

Bottle from four seasons wine and liquor. Pours black with an inch of khaki foam. Has a fair amount of head retention. Leaves a shitload of lacing. A. It of chocolate roast on the nose. Leans toward bitter on the tongue. Finishes clean. Solid for style.

A really smooth porter. Looks great, reasonable head. Usual roast, chocolatey flavour and eminently quaffable. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

(Rating #5526)

My Bottom Line:
Nicely chocolate flavors become roasty in the finish for a wealthy example of the style.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A brownish head of foam covers the blackness.
-This is on the sweet side for a Porter.
-Vanilla fruitiness is hallucinated.
-This is very close to being a dessert brew.

On tap at The Dirty Truth.

UPDATED: FEB 23, 2014 $4.70 for the 650 mL bottle purchased from Quality Liquors on the 4th. To oversized snifter, it pours an oily jet black, with which a sudsy, off-khaki head 1½ fingers in length stood. Aromas of caraway seeds, cracked wheat, melanoidin malt, fried bananas, toasted breadcrumbs, candied sugar, lactose, hay, salted caramel, and beach sand. Tastes of everything described with the addition of sourdough bread, pumpernickel, autumnal leaves, and melted wax. Certainly has this acidic note by swallow I couldn’t let escape my memory. Toasty and easily drinkable. Mmmmm.
