Clear medium red brown color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, moderate hoppy, orange, moderate yeasty, belgium yest, christmas spices, cinnamon, cardamom. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and hops + spicy bitter with a long to average duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20091123]

Lovely pub, probably better in summer when the garden is open. The beer is dark, hazy cherry with a medium white head. The aroma is earth, with chocolate and coffee. Very thick, flows like oil in the mouth and also stays a long while after. The taste is not the most sophisticated, but still very enjoyable although a bit sharp.

Cloudy mahogany with a medium beige creamy head. Sweet aroma with hard roasted malt, caramel, spices, hints of chocolate and dark fruits. Flavour was sweet with rather hard roasted malt, dark fruits, caramel and grassy hops. Finished dry and bitter and prenouced roastiness.

Draught at the brewpub.Dark reddish colour with medium white head.Aroma is spicey of cinnamon and cloves,slight rosted with flavor of caramel and malt,smooth nice finish.

2007 brew. Very dark brown with glints of orange, and completely opaque. When ordered, we were told that it could only come in a small glass due to the high alcohol content. The aroma is a little malty. The taste is simple, creamy and chocolaty, but not too heavy. There is no hint that the alcohol content is so high, it goes down smoothly. If chocolate cake is your perfect food, then this could be your perfect beer.
