Smooth and is a glowing copper coloured ale with a small head.
The aroma reveals its strength and there’s some fruits evident here too - same when it comes to its taste.

Cask conditioned handpump Eastgate Northampton 20/02/13 A ruby coloured beer with a thick white head and lace. Good fruity hops throughout but oversweet malts. Berry aromas. A little shallow in the mouth. Doesn’t carry its ABV. Balanced fruits and malts but overall too sweet.

Cask at the Claude du Vall (JDW), Camberley. Deep golden amber with a thin cream head; malty aroma with a hint of spice; soft malty taste that leaves the mouth dry; and some warming alcohol to finish. A pleasant pint.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Cask - The Bell Hotel (JDW), Norwich. Poured a copper-brown with a creamy off-white, mostly lasting head. Good bittersweet character with resin, grassy hops, some grapefruit and citrus, yeast and biscuity malts. Medium-ish body, modestly lingering finish, soft mouthfeel. A nice ESB with a subtle spice component thrown in for good measure. Plenty of character and highly quaffable, despite getting on a bit in ABV.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
On tap at The Gooseberry Bush, Nottingham. Dark chestnut ale with an initial sweetness like marzipan but settles down to a bittersweet ale. Deceptively light - can’t call it a session ale due to the ABV but it tastes like one. Very smooth mouthfeel.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
The Felix Holt, Nuneaton, 19/01/13. Ruby with a level cream top lining the glass. Oak, slightly Flemish, cranberry, alcohol nose.Very heavy toffee and fudge; red berries, slight sick, spiritous hints, barrel, cocktail with grenadine, drying fruit skin hints. Not cutting it after a zesty half of Saaz single hop.

Cask at moon under water jdw. Chestnut brown thin off white head. Neutral aroma with some caramel and cotton candy. The malt and hops fight for the fore in this beer. Flavour is a little muddled. Grassy hop finish. Sweetish. Hints of treacle.
