Very nice presentation. Full pint with half inch of dark caramel foam on a dark brown liquid. THick mouth feel. Light but long lasting hop carries past the finish. Nice roastiness in the start reminds me of a dry stout.

Pint on tap at Oliver Square location in Edmonton. Poured a dark brown color with small beige head and some lacing. Aromas of roasted malts and coffee. Taste is roasted malts with some nuttiness and a bitter coffee finish. One of my favorites of the regular taps at Brewsters.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Deep amber brown, moderate tan head. Rich aromas of breadcrust, coffee, with a little smokiness. Surprisingly fruity up front, then lots of roasted toffee malt with some nuttiness. I thought this was excellent.

This was my favourite at Brewsters. Nuttiness and sweetness. By far the best thing Brewsters makes.

Single bottle purchased at Brewsters in Calgary, AB on 08/22/2012. Colour: Dark brown/red mix. Low but steady cream coloured head. Nose: Great mixed roasted nuts, chocolate truffle, freshly rained upon soil. Taste: medium-light sweet, medium-light bitter, medium-light sour. Lots and lots of roastiness - grains this time. Semi-sweet cocoa nibs. Nice dry grain-hop fusion late. Enjoyable stuff!

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Dark brown, tastes eerily like the Shaughnessy Stout. Smokey and chocolately. A little watery, but nothing too serious. Not very bitter, but perfectly drinkable.

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Draft pint at the 11th Ave brewpub downtown. Rich malty aroma on this black-brown brew. A bit chalky, but this is a nice toasy, roasted-malt beer. Sweet, almost smoky, mostly sweet. Moderate body. OK. (#2877, 5/13/2007)

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draft at the brewpub. Dark brown mahogany body with a small tan head. (3+) Malty flavour with roasty malt accents and occassional nutty hints. Similar aroma is muted, but dominated by the mild roast that characterizes the flavour. Slightly fuller than average palate suits the beer nicely. (3+) Solid brown ale. 6+/3+/7/3+/13-14+
