COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Classic British style dark ale. Five malt types and three different hops combine to develope this smokey nut-like flavor.

Pours a dark red with a small head. The aroma is fruity, nutty and à little grainy. The flavor has red berries, chocolate, vanilla and a nutty finish. Acceptable brown, but really underwhelming.

This was my favourite at Brewsters. Nuttiness and sweetness. By far the best thing Brewsters makes.

Copper colour with faintly sweet aroma. Nutty and sweet flavour, but quite subtle and watered down. Okay.

Pint on tap at Oliver Square location in Edmonton. Poured a dark brown color with small beige head and some lacing. Aromas of roasted malts and coffee. Taste is roasted malts with some nuttiness and a bitter coffee finish. One of my favorites of the regular taps at Brewsters.

Pint at Brewsters Oliver Square. 5%. Dark brown pour with a bubbly tan head that dissipates slowly. Aroma is coffee and caramel, and roasted malt. Taste is strong roast malts, hint of coffee and nuttiness. Finish is dry, somewhat bland but a lingering malty sweetness. Just OK.

Bow Valley Brown pours a dark rusty brown and developed a two finger tan colored head with minimal retention and lacing. The aroma is of roasted malts and hazelnut with a touch of coffee. It is not as strong as it could be but instead is rather subdued. The taste is a little sweet with roasted malts and a bit of caramel up front. It fades into a hazelnut coffee finish. Quite pleasant tasting but a little bit watery. The mouthfeel is thin and watery and there is a lack of proper carbonation (seems to be a trend for Brewsters). Overall this beer was nothing special but did manage to deliver some characteristics expected of the style. I would drink it again if given the chance but I can’t help but feel like all these Brewsters beers were better on tap when I had them.

Draft at the 11th Ave. location. Pours clear brown, thin off-white head, soft lacing. Nose is rootbeer, mild roast, very light coffee, some fruit, and leather. Flavours of chocolate, barleymalt, light roast, and some creaminess. A decent enough brown.

Pours dark brown with a creamy head. Looks great. Very similar aroma to the red. Lots of toffee and dark chocolate. Sweet and malty caramel and toffee mingling with roasted barley and chocolate malts finish is dry but not bitter. Very drinkable. Nice character. Good brown ale. But I must say it is pretty thin in body and there is a big hole in the midpalate.. Not bad though.
