UPDATED: APR 1, 2007 A Mes rate:
Cask at the Pembury Tavern. Too watery. Nice roasted notes in the aroma and flavour. Nothing too bitter like about it in the aroma but it’s almost there in the flavour but only really due to the hoppy finish. Creamy malt all round really. Odd but ok.

Cask@Newark Beer Festival 2010. Dark bronze beer with a roasted and bitter aroma. The flavour is nicely roasted and bitter with a slightly yeasty finish. Overall a nice roasted beer.

Cask in the market porter. Alround rating: Roasty ruby mild malt character, some roastybitterness, but the sweetness dominates and makes it nice and tasty.

Half pint from the Palmerston Arms, Peterborough. Poured dark brown with a fizzy tan head. Moderate roasted malt aroma with a decent amount of coffee notes. Thin bodied. The coffee comes through in the taste along with the roastiness. I thought this was pretty good and would be better if there was some body to it.

Cask conditioned - handpump - Malt Shovel Northampton. A dark brown coloured beer with a ruby hue, and a tan head. The aroma is fruity with a hint of sour acidity. Again fruit and a little acid in the taste. Pretty thin and forgetful.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 chriso (7065) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - MAR 27, 2007
Cask (handpump) at the Pembury Tavern, Hackney, London. Deep, dark, chestnut colour with no head. Surprisingly dark for a 4.0% bitter. Bags of toffeeish malt on the nose. More chewy caramel malt and touches of liquorice in the flavour. Mellow and smooth mouthfeel. The relatively low bitterness makes this something of a one trick pony (boom boom) but the quite full body gives this a warming, wintery feel.

Cask@The Pembury Tavern, Hackney. Nutty and dry, with some earthy hop characters in the finish. Quite easy drinking. A touch broing, but quite drinkable.

Cask handpull at Pembury Tavern March BF 07. Very deep chestnut/brown colour with lasting bubbly beige head. Quite a malty bitter. Malt aroma, malt flavour, bit of choc in mouth. Spicy hop finish. Bit spritzy in the mouth. Decent malty bitter.

UPDATED: SEP 2, 2007 cask from 2nd Pembury Festival @ Pembury Tavern. Why pass up the chance to drink dead horse? Yum! Ruby in colour with a thin ring of head. Woody roasted hop nose. Nutty roasted malt taste. Thin palate, but a long not so bitter finish makes it quite enjoyable.
