3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 justm (163) - Essex, ENGLAND - APR 26, 2012
Cask at Blue Boar, Billericay. Pours a pale golden yellow with a thin but quite dense white head. There’s a lovely grassy floral lemon aroma which hints that this beer may pack more of a punch than you might at first think. Smooth and sharp on the palate, the taste is floral grapefruit with a cream soda edge and a little tropical fruit - mainly pineapple. The lip-smackingly sweet zesty aftertaste leaves a light dry lingering lemon flavour. Wonderfully refreshing, moreish and delightful.

Cask at the Old Manor (JDW), Bracknell. Pale straw with a tight white head; grainy aroma with some lemony citrus; smooth and grainy with a sweet fruity flavour; followed by a good mouthful of hops giving a grapefruit bitterness. Not bad, but a poor second to the Slaters Haka.

Hand pulled cask at the Moon Under Water (JDW) in Watford. Clear pale gold with a slow to settle swirly white unsparkled head. Really cracking condition, perfect mouth feel and the flavour is no let down. Clean sweet malts and fresh new world hops with ample citrus bite. Great balance, so drinkable and a refreshing change to many recent Spoon’s listings (in terms of quality ingredients). Yum!
