Bottle. I am told this was a big effort that required special care with the coffee care and addition. This is a different beer and ABV from the previous Espresso Porter. Good lasting frothy head. Dark brown with lots of ruby red highlights when held to the light. Very nice roasted malt and coffee aroma. Very good flavour. Roasted malt is stronger thant the coffee through the mouth and then there is a long coffee aftertaste. Warm full body. A bit of a zip or electricity in the body awakens the tonue.

Pours dark red with a small off white head. The aroma has leather, dirt, ash and chocolate. The flavor is a mixture of dirt, sewage, chocolate, ash and torride coffee. Not my favorite beer.

Draft at Brewsters on 11th Ave. Pours clear brown, 1-finger pale tan head, soft lacing. Nose is sweet coffee, almost instant coffee, some light roast notes, mostly sweet Tim Hortons coffee. Body is very light for a Porter, verging on thin. Fruity/vegetal esters are out of place, and sweet creamy coffee persists. Really dreadful finish. Not a winner.

***review from Jan 2009***
So, I asked what the seasonal was and it was this and I knew instantly that I would despise it.
Very dark brown and poured to the rim. It was plain nasty fresh and cold. After letting it warm a bit I gave it a go. The aroma was questionable for my own enjoyment but probably suitable for others. Thick coffee, slight chocolate and a level of sweetness that should have been avoided. The taste although not terrible did make me grimace. Too sweet for my liking, cold coffee is not inviting, decent chocolate and some hops at a nice quantity. Nice and smooth beer with a sort of oily coating left over. Not too thick which was a help. Chugged and chased quickly with a glass of Oban to disinfect the palate. I should have known better that to get this beer.

My Bottom Line:
Berry esters seem to yield light tartness, plaguing the roasted malts in this almost vinegary, flawed Porter.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A full head of foam sits atop the cloudy blackened burgundy.
-If I rely on other ratings, I guess there was a hidden infection in this bottle/batch and it took a few months for it to develop. Too bad!
-Coffee was nearly absent from the flavor profile.
-The body was lean and the finish quite dry.
-This tastes like a Schoune Porter...

Bottle, best before April. Thx guys!

Deep copper brown, frothy off-white head. Rich coffee/espresso aroma without being too vegetal. The palate is all coffee and cocoa, very roasty. Medium bodied, dry finish.
