3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Oakes (10184) - Gibsons, - AUG 27, 2006
Tap - Brewster’s Crowfoot. Very pale yellow. Opaque. Pristine white head. On the whole, good presentation. The aromatics are somewhat obscure, just some wheatiness and a bit of lemon (no lemon was used in the serving of this beer). Flavours are equally simple. Body is thinner and drier than many examples, which makes it more refreshing. Not very malty, spicy, or yeasty but refreshing has its time and place, too.

Pint on tap at Oliver Square location in Edmonton. Poured a hazy copper color with a small white head and little lacing. Aromas of banana and cloves and some yeast as well. Taste is yeast and cloves with a light sourness in the finish. Nicely carbonated providing a decent mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good beer, but not one of my favorites from Brewsters.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 bulldogops (311) - Alberta, CANADA - JUL 3, 2011
Pint @ Brewster’s. 5.2%. Cloudy, orange/honey coloured pour with a frothy white foam, medium retention. Aroma is yeast and bananas. Taste is more bananas (maybe too much), yeast, orange, coriander, and almost a sweet gingery taste lingering in the finish. Creamy, cool and very sweet, but leaves a very dry mouth.

5 ounce sample at the 11th Ave brewpub at 5-beer sampler for $8.50CAD. Very good, even not being my favorite style
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 maley1 (277) - calgary, Alberta, CANADA - MAY 8, 2011
Very cloudy creamy yellow colour with medium head. Aroma of banana, wheat and cloves. Taste was watery, with a citrus lemon coming through. Refreshing but not a great hefe.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 gramity (601) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - FEB 16, 2011
For this pour I used my German weissbier glass which compliments the naturally substantial head of wheat beers. Gunther’s is unfiltered and cloudy and a nice golden bronze in color. Excellent lacing left on the glass.
The nose is of banana, clove, and coriander. There are notes of yeast in the aroma. It is a sweet smell and quite appetizing.
There are hints of slightly sweet banana in the taste but it is not overpowering. I can now distinctly taste the large proportion of wheat used to brew Gunther’s and I am a fan. There are some light hops providing a bit of bitterness in the finish.
Gunther’s is medium bodied and quite highly carbonated. I almost find the carbonation leads to a bit of bloat in the gut and can slow your enjoyment of this down.
At times in the middle of the sip there is almost a little something missing that briefly makes the beer seem watery.
Overall - when in the right conditions I love this beer. Namely in the summer heat on a patio or deck.
2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Powertrip (841) - Calgary, Alberta, CANADA - JUL 3, 2010
Fairly low creamy head and silty tangerine colour. Nose: wheat, lemon peel, young barley, teriyaki sauce. Taste: early cream soda then sour mash, poppyseed, and then more sour mash to end things. This one was off track and its personality did not match its label. Sour dominant and not overly bearable.

Clouded light orange. Hefe smell, but heavier on the clove and lacking banana. Huge banana on the taste though. Surprisingly good.

Golden wheat with a hint of orange tossed in there for colour. Super cloudy and OK head, but excellent lacing. Seems a bit too thick?? They served this with a lemon wedge attached to my glass like a wart, so I uncerimoniously tossed it onto the table. The aroma has some over the top hopiness that I did not want there, early obvious impression of cardboard. Sharp bananas that is just too much (more of a dried banana chiip smell), slight anise. It is similar to alot of North American hefe’s. I’m more of a fan of the Euro style. Taste is almost all wheat, which is great considering the overwhelming aroma of bananas. Wheat is dusty and not the of the highest quality but still good mainly due to the huge ammount. The banana sweetness is there but is very wear, at least on this most recent pint. Slightly sour and tart as well. The sourness hangs over most sips too much but the excessive wheat has won me over. Mouthfeel is acceptable even with the overcarbonation (it isn’t to bad) and sourness. The wheat does keep it feeling somewhat dry early on and then finishes with more dry wheat. So although the aroma sort of sucks, the large wheat presance saves this brew.
2.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 10/20 Cirrhosis (931) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - JUN 8, 2009
Yet a other review that I’m trying to decipher of a 3 week old napkin and it looks like I tried to write left handed because this is worse than chicken scratch what the hell was I doing. Brew looks like your standard Hefe cloudy beige with a fluffy white cap, unfortunately my cap was very thin and didn’t last longer than a minute but it did produce so ok lacing. Aroma was over the top banana chips with possibly some banana bread, to sweet for my liking. Beer feels a touch thin for me and has too much stinging carbonation that is burning my throat. Flavor seems watery with over the top banana sweetness, but had a good wheaty malt presence, the finish is all bread. This like all Brewster beers is very drinkable but not the great.

Bottle shared with blankboy, HogTownHarry & garthicus - blankboy’s bottle. Hazy burnished golden with a small white head that leaves a lot of lace. Aroma has LOTS of banana, a bit of clove and yeast. Flavour of lemon, banana, hints of yeast and pineapple. A pretty nice hefe, I liked it.
