Cask; Regular.
A copper coloured ale, brewed with four malts and three hops. It has a rich full bodied feel and a delicious fruity hop character.
Introduced in Summer 2004 as a one off. It has rapidly become a favourite in many pubs and is now a permanent beer.

One of my rare cask entries.Tried at the magnificent Philharmonic in Liverpool with my son Adam prior to seeing our football team Birmingham City robbed. How apt that its a bitter because thats how we both felt. Lovely smooth hops with some fruitiness and a citrus aftertaste. An excellent beer that does not cheat like some Liverpool players. Yes I am bitter and yes this is highly recommended.

Cask at the Old Salutation, Nottingham. Although it is enjoyably hoppy, this somewhat embarrassingly named beer is very pleasingly balanced with fruity sweet malt and juicy, citrus-flavoured hops. I thought it was a very good bitter indeed.

UPDATED: OCT 12, 2013 Copper color. Cotton candy and apples in the nose. Fairly fragerant. Aggressive hoppy start to the mouth, but hops are fairly soft. Well balanced with malty backbone that just gives a touch of caramel. Moderately bitter finish. A stunning English bitter. Update summer 2013. Didn’t realize I drank this beer on a previous trip to the UK. Had a very different experience this time. deep orange color. Woody earthy character . Nothing exciting.

Cask-conditioned at The Commercial Rooms (JDW), Bristol 13/9/08. Amber with a decent, off-white head. Aroma of citrus hops, hay and a touch of apricot. Slightly sweet malt flavour with plenty of fruity hops and a decent bitter finish. Good.

Cask at the alfread herring. Aroma is grassy citrus hops, quite a bit of earthy mossy fresh character too. Taste is quite balanced as theres more than just pale malt in here, the piney hoppy character makes it quite drinkable stuff.

Cask at Wetherspoons, Hammersmith. Copper colour with a thin cream head; citrus aroma; very hoppy with a fruity citrus flavour and a strongly bitter finish. Very pleasant.

Cask handpull at Wetherspoons, Folkestone. Copper colour with lasting off white head. Aroma of strong grapefruit and hop. Very hoppy for a UK bitter, more like an APA, with glittering floral hop on finish. Some American hops I guess from the amount of grapefruit. Malts show moderate juiciness with just enough balance to carry the hops. Man, what an APA at the end of a long week. Lovely and tingly on the finish. Good grapefruit. Barman? Another one of these please.

UPDATED: JAN 7, 2011 Cask conditioned - handpump - Malt Shovel Northampton. A copper coloured beer with an off white head. More malt than hop in the aroma, although the berry fruitiness is probably from both elements. The taste is over complicated and a bit messy with too much going on for a 4.3% beer. The fruitiness and the hops just don’t quite strike a perfect balance. Score 3.3
