COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
It all started on October 12, 1810 with the wedding of Bavarian crown prince Ludwig (later King Ludwig I) and Princess Therese. The whole city of Munich partied for a full 5 days (the official part). Maybe it was the beer that was specially brewed for the occasion that saw the celebration repeated each fall since then. Our own brewmaster recreated this authentic beer so that we can all join in the celebration. Thank you, Ludwig and Therese and zum Wohl!

Frothy white head on dark amber. Toffee aroma. Flavour and body is not as sweet or thick as expected from the scent. Good malt. Toffee flavour. Hint of bitterness.

Tap at Brewsters. Amber, golden cream. Straw malt, a hint fruit and roast. A wee bit diacetyl and DMS. Medium light body, slightly chalky dry mouthfeel. Ok hop finish.

Clear dark amber pour with small white head. Malty aroma with some earthy tones. Flavor is mildly malty, slightly sweet and nice and crisp. Nice carbonation and mouthfeel. Slight hoppy bitterness finish. Good beer.

Thanks to presario for this. I forgot about this one at the back of my cellar and I think it’s past it’s prime. Pours a dark reddish amber with a big frothy white head. Aroma is malt, spice maybe nutmeg. Taste has a sting to it. Not sure if it’s the age but there is a bite that is a tad spicy and a little sulphurous. I’m guessing not intended. Other than that, the malt is still very well represented.

Pint on tap at Oliver Square location in Edmonton. Poured a deep amber color with a small white head and some spots of lace. Aroma of roasted malts and some floral hops. Taste is roasted malty sweetness and a mild hop bitterness in the finish. Overall, I truly enjoy a pin of this beer every fall at Brewsters.

UPDATED: OCT 1, 2010 •••••re-rate Oct 1,2010••••• Much better tasting or at the least, I’m enjoying this much more. Tasty malts are bigger. Yes pretty vague. Hits the style well and it doesn’t have the typical brewsters flavor. Still, this is NOT a fave style of mine but I could put a couple back •••• Got me a nice clear deep amber beer with the usual lack of crown due to the rim-high pour. The aroma was very weak with subdued caramel malts and faint hops. This is a terrible beer when ice cold but obviously better when warmed. There were alot of toasty malts and a chunk of weakly spiced hops - very two dimentional. The hops did become more peppery and did seem to drive the flavour especially near the end. Has a short lived strong hop finish.

A seasonal beer at the crowfoot location. Orange gold pour with a white head. Some lacing. Aroma of caramel and earthy malts. Flavor is malty and mildly hoppy with earthy undertones. A pretty nice beer.

Tabletop sign advertised this ias "King Ludwig Oktoberfest". Tap @ Lakeside Landing location. Orange colour, white head, recedes to a fine layer of tight bubbles, minimal lacing. Caramel malt aroma. Flavour of toasted malts, slight breadiness, caramel malts. Finishes with light grass hop notes. Carboantion is light and fine. Found this to be a nice session beer.

I popped into the Brewsters off Acadia to pick up a bunch of their nottled Blue Monk, only to find out they have it on tap only at the moment. But my consolation prize was this nice Octoberfest seasonal! Brilliant orange amber, sea-foam cream coloured head. Rich butter-toffee aroma. Butter toffee flavour with some interestings nuances: tea leaves and fresh-cut wood both come to mind. Really nice!
