[804-20071102] Tap @ Brewsters (Calgary, AB). Sweet raspberry fruit aroma has some leaf characteristics. Clear, light orange brown body with a long-lasting creamy white head. Raspberry cream soap flavour. Light-medium body. Nice mild raspberry, repeatable.

Faint raspberry taste and aroma. Not very sweet. Watery and boring. Very disappointing.

UPDATED: MAR 30, 2012 (Second Taste, Home, New 500mL Bottle, Lager Glass, 5% ABV, Chilled, 25/02/12. #8.)

Appearance (3/5): Pours a dull pale amber, with a frothy, but diminishing white head.
Aroma (5/10): Dominating raspberry, with grains and a hint of cola and citrus.
Taste (6/10): Sweet and lightly acidic, with a short, bitter, grainy finish.
Palate (2/5): Light, average carbonation, slightly watery. Not a great mouthfeel, but refreshing.
Overall (12/20): Nice, but uninspiring. I prefer Alley Kat’s Aprikat when i want a fruit beer; this one feels like they just added raspberry to a preexisting beer instead of crafting the beer around the fruit.
Drinkability: 4/5. Character: 2/5. Buy Again: No.

Single bottle purchased from Brewsters Brew Pub on 11th ave SW in Calgary, AB on 02/24/2012. Colour: Very light yellow with no head. Nose: Raspberry but also cherry and lime. More of a rice type of malt smell. Bubblegum as well. Taste: Medium-light sweet, light bitter, medium-light sour. Berry burst then directly into solid wheat. More bubblegum in mid-late palate then a dry wheat finish that becomes more grainy as it settles. Refreshing.

Pint on tap at Brewsters Oliver Square location in Edmonton. Poured a pale golden color with small white head and little lacing. Aroma raspberries and wheat. Taste is raspberries and sweet malt finishing with a berry tartness. A decent fruity beer for a hot summer day.

Hazy honey brown with a fist full of fresh raspberries floating on top. Aroma is sweet toasted wheat, caramel, and mild sour raspberries. I enjoy the fact that aroma only has the raspberry as an accent and not the main focus. Taste is the same use the exact description of the aroma and apply to taste. This was better than I thought it would and perfect for this Friday lunch on the Brewster’s patio……..Wait a second after I finished the quick review so my co-workers would stop mocking me the beer warmed up! Ah-oooooo. Brew has taken on the flavor of stale ice that your Grandma made in here down stairs freezer in 1985 when your grandpa was still alive to put in his “medicine” now she only brings it up to serve you ice water because your cleaning out her gutters on the hottest day of the year………..you all know what I’m talking about don’t lie to me. Powdery flowers, with a lip smacking dryness. WOW!! I had this beer at about 3.5 when after my first impressions then all went to hell, so I guess I’ll kind of average the cold vs warm beer to come up with a mark. DRINK COLD!!

***Old rating. Patio pint in the summer*** The beer poured a a nice clear amber hue with a touch of pink or red present from the raspberries. There was minimal head but it was also slightly colored from the raspberries being dropped through it. The aroma is of a wheat backbone with some faint raspberry. The taste is identical to their wheat ale (which is good) with some raspberry flavoring added. The berry flavor is understated and now overpowering. I have had fruit beers that taste syrupy and this is far from it. It is debatable whether you should add berries to beer. If you are going to - this is how you should do it. Pretty refreshing during the summer heat.

A pretty average beer. I like how they throw a couple of Raspberries into the glass when they serve it. Aroma of raspberries and wheat. Fruity taste and normal wheat ale taste. It seems like they threw a couple of berries into their Wheat Ale.

Clear yellow pour with a bit of sediment. Arrived with floating raspberries. Big raspberry smell that masks any other aromas. Fruit taste is evident from the floating berries. Very little else is offered by way of flavors.

Draught at the brewpub, Oliver Square location
Blond color, with a floating raspberry. Differently from the Blueberry Wheat, it has a light trace of fruit in the aroma and flavor, unfortunately clashing with the Lager underneath, too bitter for this beer. Needless to say, I don’t see the point of these fruit beers, in general.

Sample, seved with a raspberry, savoured on May 24 2008 at the pub; eye: straw, clear, slight effervescence, beige head; nose: raspberry, light malt; mouth: raspberry’s acidity, raspberry, light caramel, a bit of hops, finale in raspberry with a surprising hint of caramel, average carbonation, lightly sweet, grainy; overall: nice summer beer FRANÇAIS Échantillon, servie avec une framboise, savourée le 24 mai 2008 sur place; oeil : paille, claire, très légère effervescence, mousse beige; nez : framboise, léger malt; bouche : acidité de framboise, framboise, léger caramel, un p’tit peu de houblon, finale en framboise avec une p’tite pointe de caramel surprenante, carbonatation moyenne, légèrement sucrée, granuleuse; en résumé : belle p’tite bière d’été
