cask - Pours dark brown with a small head. It smells of roast malt and tastes of dark roast malt and chocolate. It seems light for a porter, but it’s decent.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Leighton (4094) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - MAR 24, 2012
Cask at Mason & Taylor, London. Pours hazy, darek brown with a small, off-white cream. Dusty cocoa in the nose. Light sweet flavor, dry cocoa, leaves, light grassy bitterness, some burnt wood. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Very, very dry on the finish, more dusty cocoa, some wood, dry grassy bitterness, some leaves. So so.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 downender (4382) - Bristol, Gloucestershire, ENGLAND - OCT 23, 2011
Cask-conditioned at the Seven Stars, Bristol 22/10/2011. Near black with reddish undertones and a tight, off-white head. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate and dark fruits. Flavour had some chunky chocolate, coffee and more fruit, leading to a long, dry finish. Excellent.

Don’t get the Stilton but really nice smoky stout - solid and drinkable with enough complexity to be interesting

Cask conditioned at The Cambridge Blue, Cambridge. Black with ruby hue and tan head. Impressive, palate dominating beer, heavily bitter for a porter which really adds to it, the bitterness coming from the darkly roasted, toasted malts. Slugs of licorice notes come next giving a texture to the beer, a very interesting attempt.

Cask gravity at Dover / White Cliffs Fest 2009. A robust and roughly bitter dark ale. The bitterness is off putting.
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20 albertane (378) - Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, ENGLAND - DEC 20, 2008
Cask at the Newshouse, Nottingham. This is really a surprisingly good porter. Rich and smooth, it is very chocolatey and malty with hints of roast and smoke. It has a wonderful bitterness. One of the best dark beers I have had this year.

UPDATED: NOV 9, 2010 1)Cask, Leicester Fest ’08 (Thurs afternoon session). Intense fat roast, loose tan head, ruby tints, unfolding chocolate behind the bitterness, leather, Bovril, big hoppy IBUs. Dark and complex. Solid beer to open the festival with...
2) Cask, The Struggler’s Inn, Lincoln. Faint ashy plum aroma . Blackberry and cocoa hints, actually ganja quite strongly as it heats . Mahogany with ruby glints and yellow-tan drapes. Slight soapiness, fag ash flicks; herbaceous and a bit tedious with a sliver of choc orange. Where’s the cheese? About as good as it’s gonna get in Lincoln today. 636313

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 RichardGretton (3758) - Leicestershire, ENGLAND - APR 14, 2007
Cask@Leicester Beer Festival 2007. Dark beer with a light head. The aroma is deeply dry and the flavour is dry, not cheesey and slightly thick. Overall a reasonable beer.
