3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Ibrew2or3 (4699) - Phoenix, Arizona, USA - NOV 1, 2008
Poured up on tap at the West Palm Beach brewpub in a fresh from a deep freeze frozen tumbler glass. Come on man!! Act like you know beer. After a while a non-frozen tundra tumbler was offered up where I transferred the Alt contents over myself. This place sure doesn’t appear to be a beer first type brewpub. It poured the second time clear deep copper with thin off white to tan head. The faint aroma brings up notes of sweetness from both malts and dark fruity esters and not a whole lot else. The taste, still a bit too cold, has notes of muted mild fruity esters mixing into caramel, nuttiness and faint chocolate malts. Roasted malts and nuttiness take this beer to the finish.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 hopscotch (7274) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - OCT 30, 2008
Draft (West Palm Beach location)… Clear copper ale. The fruity, malty aroma is of caramel and snappy German hops. Medium to full-bodied with modest carbonation. Sweet, malty flavor, like a Märzen, but the hops are a bit more energetic than an Oktoberfest. Pleasantly sweet finish.
2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 Beershine (4561) - The Sunshine State, Florida, USA - OCT 24, 2008
West Palm. Mahogany, nutmeg color. Very little head. Bready aroma includes sourdough. Soft carbonation. Spritzy. Touch of lime. Raisin. Apples, including skins. Slight plastic.
2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 Oakes (9994) - Gibsons, British Columbia, CANADA - OCT 23, 2008
On tap at West Palm Dark amber/light brown colour. Relatively bright and with a loose head. The aroma is light, very spent grainy. Thin, caramelly and slick. Like Dusseldorf’s macrobrewed alts. Light metallic note, a bit mushroomy. Lots of sweet character and slick oily texture.
