3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 FleeVT (40) - Boca Raton, USA - MAR 31, 2008
Served on tap at the Boca Raton location into a pint glass.
ABV on this was 5.5% according to the bartender.
Pours and opaque, light mahogany with no head, whatsoever. I’m not sure if this was a result of a piss-poor pull or the chemistry of the beer. I did try to swirl things up and with the same results...
Lots of malts, a mild dose of hops, nutty, and bananas on the nose. All in character for the style. A crisp beer with lots of malty tone and banana. Finishes clean. Light mouth feel, with very low carbonation.
Need to pick up the carbonation a bit to add some punch, and a head. I’ll try again to see if it was the server’s mistake. Other than that, a good representation.
2.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 Oakes (10184) - Gibsons, British Columbia, CANADA - MAY 2, 2008
Golden-brown, shade darker than the Black Duke.. Rather phenolic (bubblegum) nose with that artificial candy banana. Sort of a slippery, oily texture. More candy banana with the slight toffee underneath. Simple take - it needs yeast!
2.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 Beershine (4712) - The Sunshine State, Florida, USA - APR 1, 2008
Dark amber, looks filtered. Sweet banana nose. Thin, flat palate, does not match the style. Fairly clean malt flavors with a dry finish. Not terrible, not terribly good.
2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 Ibrew2or3 (4914) - Phoenix, Arizona, USA - MAR 9, 2008
Pours murky hazy brown with meek off white head. It has a sweet full aroma of candi sugar mixed with some dark fruity esters like plums along with mild spiciness and pepper. The taste seems kind of thin in body to start where it comes across milder than the aroma had suggested. I get a watery prune and date sense along with sweet malts, mild caramel and Belgian candi sugar.

Draft at Florida Brewers Guild Beer Fest 2008. Full rating updated as soon as I am more coherent.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 jcalbi (378) - New Jersey, USA - APR 9, 2002
First of all I have to say that I feel right at home in a place where the first thing you notice is the brewmaster’s head popping out of the top of the 650 gallon lauter tun! This beer had a nice carmel color with a slight yeasty haze. The aroma of cloves and banana is quite prevalent. Wonderfully fruitty, spicy flavor as well. I would recommend this BP to anyone visiting the Boca Raton area. Good food and above average beer.
