341 ml bottle from a trade with jessem. pours ruby with a small tan head. big malt aroma. dark fruit, caramel with light hopping. the flavours are similar to the aroma. fruit up front with the hops coming in with a slightly tin bitterness. the malts overpower the hop but this is a dunkler bock afterall. if the old version was better then im officially ISO. a great bock.

[2457-20090822] 341mL bottle. Sweet caramel taffy syrup aroma has rich molasses malt notes. Slightly hazy, dark brown body with a quick foamy off-white head. Rich sweet caramel malt flavour has a very mildly cloying plastic aftertaste. Medium-full body. In great shape, nice palate, seems like there are several levels to unravel within this beer.

UPDATED: MAY 16, 2009 341ml bottle from a six-pack directly from the brewery. The label is really cool too, nice picture of some medevial German guy dancing around pouring beer for a monkey with a stein, and stylish writing. Pours a very nice, slightly hazy dark ruby-brown with a medium beige head. The aroma is actually surprisingly nice, some burned caramalt with undertones of hoppy metalicness, and fruityness, interesting, surprisingly ’bock’ like! The flavour is very much on the sweet side of things, but definitely not cloying. Nice malt body to it, though perhaps just a tad watery (this is a Brick product after-all). Mild Earthyness as well. Nice mouth-feel to it, some pricklyness in the finish that is well rounded with hop astringency and malty goodness in the aftertaste. Decent! I can’t believe a Brick product can still be so good, and the sixer was only $7.95, making think it’d just become a bastardized near-buck-a-beer, but wow what a nice little surprise. It makes me almost not look down so much on the current quality status of Brick products, and that’s a pretty amazing thing! Like, seriously? Is this actually happening in my mouth?

With many thanks to Tupalev for this :-) Appearance: Deep ruby red, tiny white head. Aroma: Wow, like fresh dough, winter fruit, yeast, malt, some hops, bitter. Flavour: Chewy malt, chocolate, hops, a nice bock indeed! Thanks Jeff.

2009-09-22. Very dark brown body with a billowy beige head that fades quickly. Ɠ+) Aroma is sweet, dark malt, lightly toasty, light fruit/raisins. Flavour is similar, sweet dark malt, light raisin like fruit. Overall impression is quite sweet. Malt is pleasant but simplistic, feels just a touch dilute at times. Average palate is lightly carbonated which makes it feel heavier on the tongue than it might otherwise. Dry toasty nuances come out a bit more as the glass goes on. Pleasant, quaffable. Bottle c/o Tupalev

A 341 ml bottle courtesy of JesseM, thanks buddy! A deep mahogany pour unleashes a frothy beige cap, but it is short lived, and recedes to a thing ring. The nose is full of caramel malts, toasty, roasty nuts, pumpernickel, some pit fruits, fresh hops. The flavour profile hints at sweet toasty malts, some caramel, dark bread, nuts, some sweet fruit, sharp hops. This is medium bodied, sweet, with a very flavourful finish. Those from Ontario entering into the Bock world, would be wise to try this first, as it has much of the excellent qualities found in Bocks that are normally not found in this province. A great find. Thanks for the bottle Jesse, much appreciated!

Ah, the last we’ll ever see of it, a going away present from Jim Brickman before he was kicked out from my understanding. I got the last 6 pack, stolen my the nice cashier from an employee’s stash in the cooler. Shared with BeerGeek. Dark brown, small white head. Decent sweet aroma. Taste is good - sweet malt, caramel, some dark fruit and even a few hops in the end. Not bad at all! No idea how it compares - that was a long time ago and my tastes were entirely different. The best brick product we are likely to see in some time.

Bottle (341ml) courtesy of tupalev. Pours a cloudy bubbly orange-ruby with an average size diminishing off-white head. Mild but pleasant aroma of lightly burnt caramel, bready malt and dark fruit. Slightly watery but nice flavour of toasted malt, caramel, some sweetness and notes of dark fruit, chocolate and light hops. Average bodied. A decent Bock and the best (or close to best) Brick beer by far.

Bottle ( 341ml). Got this from TUPALEV. Clear chestnut red, average foamy beige head. Dry, slightly soapy herbal/floral with cocoa and nutshell. Sweet, light, sort of nutty taste, very mild leafy bitterness - not bad, but pretty mild, and not much alcohol to speak of. Watery, somewhat still mouthfeel, quick-finishing, no aftertaste - decent as a session beer, but not memorable at all.
