DuffMan (2721), the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, Canada Feb 19, 2009 Draught @ Milestone’s in the Vancouver airport. Pale yellow, faint grainy aroma. Sweet grainy palate, rather bland. RigorMortis (24), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Feb 18, 2008 Draught @ Milestone’s as Palomino Honey Red - Nice color but lacked head, too sweet for its own good. Pleasant enough to drink, but only recommended for beer newbies or my wife. ILduce (133), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Feb 12, 2008 Amber-orange with no head or lace. Lots of honey and caramel in the nose, but that’s it. Taste is muddled by too much honey. Watery with some malt flavour. Has a syrupy mouthfeel that resembles old cola...flat and unflattering in every way. blankboy (3165), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Sep 21, 2007 Draught at Milestone’s. As ’Palomino Honey Lager’. Pours a clear bubbly orange with an average size diminishing white head. Aroma’s mild and dull with sugar, light hops, somewhat fake honey and a hint of grain. Watery flavour of fake honey, grain, malt and only a hint of hops. Light to average bodied. I’ve had worse Canadian ’Honey’ beers, that’s for sure, but this is still pretty mediocre stuff. JesseM (661), Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario, Canada Aug 31, 2007 I’m pretty sure this one isn’t retired completely, I had it at the rum runners pub last night in Kitchener. And it wasn’t all that horrible. Nice aroma with honey being very evident. The taste had sort of an unpleasant skunkiness to it, but other than that it was enjoyable. robinvboyer (1419), Sturgeon Falls, Ontario, Canada Jan 25, 2007 not very good.
very very sweet, way too sweet.
it was like taking a macro pale lager and dumping in whack of sugar water. very thin, not enjoyable at all. HazelRah (276), Summerland, British Columbia, Canada Nov 28, 2006 Bronzey-red with white lace highlights. Smooth and malty flavour with a touch of hops. With food, this one went ineluctably down the gullet no questions asked. Slacks (481), Bolton, Ontario, Canada Apr 27, 2006 Unfortunately, not in keeping with what I’ve come to expect from Brick. It does carry forth the Brick-typical absentee head, but this one also carries a somewhat unpleasing smell and far too much carbonation. I’ll go out on a limb and assume perhaps the place I tried it on tap - Big Daddy’s - had allowed it to age and become somewhat stale, but that’s not going to convince me to try it a second time. Flavour is mostly just carbonation, but you’ll find a bit of corn and grains alongside a tinge of honey. Sadly, I’ll recommend a pass.
