2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Strangebrewer (522) - Chatham, - DEC 11, 2009
bottle. Poured a pale straw colour woth a chunky white head. Grainy, sour apple aroma. Moderate carbonation, thin texture. Flavour has some malt but mostly a grainy corn flavour. Light and non-offensive, what I expected.

Pours just a slight lighter golden colour than most regular beers (so pretty decent for a light brew). Small white cap (almost creamy) that delivers some lacing. Grainy cereal aromas with hay and hints of apples. Typical wet mouthfeel that seems thicker than most light beers. The taste is where is shows more like a light lager, but still nothing offensive and fake. Very mild malt with maybe some light corn, but really well-hidden. A better-than-average light blonde lager from the macros (which means well-priced).

341 ml bottle from The Beer Store. Pours a clear pale yellow with small white head. Aroma is grainy and somewhat vegetal. Flavour is grainy/corny with a little fruitiness. Body is predictably light. Poor but there are plenty of worse pale lagers out there.

I can’t believe I haven’t rated this before now. On tap at the brewery, nice pale gold with a small white head. The aroma is typical cereal grains, soapy dishwater in a non-offensive way, very faint as one might expect. Flavour is like the regular Red Baron mixed with tonic water. Servicable. Feels light and mildy spritzy on the palate, at least it’s not totally flat and dead. Would be quite good to throw back in massive quantities on a hot day, too bad that’s not really how I drink beer, and I would also prefer the regular Red Baron since it has slightly more flavour. All in all not a bad offering, if not incredibly mundane.

Bottle from TBS- Very pale sparkling yellow, with a loud and fizzy bleached white cap, that fades to a thin ring. Nose of faint grassy hops, corn, some lemon? Not really much going on. Taste is faint pale malts, grains, the slightest hoppiness. A bit sweet and vegetal towards the finish with prickly carbonation. Very tame and flavourless beer.
