Slacks (481), Bolton, Ontario, Canada Sep 5, 2009 Stubby: Pours pale lagery, head-ish. Aroma is not really there, corn and blah. Flavour is corny pale lager. Might be good for something like pouring on a frozen door lock or feeding to a house plant, not recommended for ingestion. JesseM (661), Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario, Canada Dec 31, 2008 341ml stubby at the bowling alley in Uptown Waterloo. Not sure what to make of this one, nice little peppery hop zing in the finish after some questionable toasty pale malts and a bit of corn. Not much in the way of adjuncts or offensive flavours, but still not great. Decent enough for what it is, and for God’s sake, I was in a f***ing bowling alley. It was this or Coors Light on tap. For a Brick product it is surprisingly neutral on the crap scale. JohnBarleycorn (390), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jun 12, 2008 Draft. Weak yellow/gold appearance. Boiled rice and vague grassy aroma. Quite refreshing, despite its regrettably dominant lemon/steel flavour profile. A quick burst of hop bitterness helps salvage a positive final impression. AWS9 (222), Mississauga, Ontario, Canada May 3, 2008 Bottle. Stubbie! Non-offensive corn odour, but certainly not a pleasing one. Doesn’t look like anything special in the glass, but it is in a stubbie, which is so cooool. Uh, the taste is dominated by its sour, corn-like aftertaste. If it weren’t for that, it would be a very clean, light tasting beer with a slight hop kick, but the aftertaste is quite pungent really. Can’t recommend this for anything other than nostalgia (my Dad’s reaction to seeing this beer was a very simple "yuck", I wonder what stories he could tell...) fredthecat (180), Canada Mar 19, 2008 doesnt have an unpleasant flavour, mostly just bitter, also very carbonated. tastes like most canadian dollar beers, its in a stubby bottle though. micker (31), Peterborough, Ontario, Canada Mar 6, 2008 My beer of choice largely because of it’s cheap price and good flavour. I would best describe this as a workman’s ale nothing too fancy on the palate but nothing offensive. If i had one complaint it would be that this beer is a bit too sweet , could use a little bit more bitter of a flavour. Overall though this is a great ale and a steal at $29 a 24 robinvboyer (1419), Sturgeon Falls, Ontario, Canada Dec 14, 2007 Ha! good old redcap!
I remember having this when it was brewed by Carling. Just a plain old crappy golden ale. Nothing fancy, just a lawnmower beer. tomthompson89 (1459), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Sep 29, 2007 yellow piss color, decent white head. nose is grassy, some hay, taste is alot of corn, faint hops on the finish.
