jgb9348 (2492), Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA Nov 7, 2009 Deep dark coloured body with a mild ruby tint and a very thin tan head. Aroma of mild malt, cardboard, yeast and a little bit of sugar. Light-bodied; Strong cardboard and sugar flavours with not much else but funky malt and water. Aftertaste shows just about nothing, perhaps cardboard and some sugars. Overall, a pretty bad beer - I don’t see much premium about this, but it was nice to at least try it. I sampled this 473 mL can purchased from the LCBO (Summerhill) in Toronto, Ontario on 11-October-2009 sampled from home in Washington on 06-November-2009. Trev (849), Lakeville, Minnesota, USA Sep 2, 2009 Dark brown with a thick tight tan head.
Aroma is slightly dusty light chocolate malt. Some fruity hop.
Flavour is a little thin tasting, Though somewhat creamy.
nutty, caramel and toasted malts, some burnt malt bitterness. Hints of dark fruits. Strangebrewer (207), Chatham, Ontario, Canada Aug 30, 2009 can. Poured dark brown, almost opaque with medium tan head. Very light fruity aroma. Palate initially light and watery. Sweet & roasted caramel and raison flavour. Light dry finish. pete4999 (120), Buffalo, New York, USA Aug 30, 2009 Bottle at Imperial Pub in Toronto. Pours a nice reddish brown, not much head. Nearly opaque when held to the light - impressive looking. Very sweet taste, sorta fruity - plums, raisins. Pretty thin, I was hoping for some creamy texture and malty flavors...and didn’t find either of them. Meh....looks a lot better than it tastes. tgncc (796), Bellmore, New York, USA Jul 16, 2009 Took a while to find this on Ratebeer. It was an impulse buy at a lousy beer store in Canada. The aroma is strange, sweet, malty, earthy, tangy. The appearance is attractive, dark red/brown, dissipating white head. The flavor is malty, caramel, bread, toasted malts. The finish is slightly bitter and dry. Thin/medium mouthfeel. Not terrible. MrRoss (614), Delta, British Columbia, Canada Jul 15, 2009 What’s this all about? It started well, with a rich, dark amber colour but it all went downhill from there. Head was conspicuous by its abesence, and there was a very faint aroma of perhaps some malt. Taste was slightly malt, but not much else. Mouthfeel was seriously thin, and no aftertaste to speak of. This cannot be my either my last review of 2006 nor my first of 2007. Gotta do better than this! Papillon (172), Sudbury, Ontario, Canada Apr 17, 2009 473 mL Can. Deep copper body with a small fizzy tan head. Aroma of grains and caramel with a hint of crystal malt. Flavors of sweet malt, crystal malt, and toasted malt with caramel in the aftertaste and a mild sweet finish. Refreshingly light for a dark. terrybail (330), London, Ontario, Canada Feb 18, 2009 473ml can from the LCBO
