COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A dark beer can be a very scary thought to some people. Surprise, surprise. There's no other beer quite like Waterloo Dark, refreshingly light and delicate in taste but rich in colour. Don't be afraid of the dark. surprise yourself.

Deep ruby color, head went away quickly. Some roasted malt in the aroma but it was faint. Lighter malt flavor. Light to medium bodied. Not bad but could use a bit more flavor/aroma.

Pours as you would expect, a dark red brown, but with no head. The aroma is a bit metallic, some grassy notes, and light notes of play-doh. The flavour is malty, a bit of toffee and a play-doh finish....weird flavour. Medium body. All and all, this beer has pretty weak game, but it’s not THAT bad.

Tasted 4/15/08. 341ml bottle. Filtered with a dark brown hue with orange highlights. Ring of white head. Aroams of honey and toffee. Nutty aroams. Light to medium bodied with light effervescence. Meh...

Illuminatus (92) - Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario, CANADA - APR 3, 2008
Six pack from the LCBO. Pours a dull brown, medium head. Flavour is a touch metallic, similar to a macrobrew with a touch more malt. Unimpressive.

Bottle. Not much aroma, fairly malty. Dark in color. Decent flavor, but not much too it. Little better than a macro lager, but tasted quite similar. Not much smoke and hardly overwhelming on malt.

Draught; Plesent aroma, very dark in colour (looks like coke), good flavour for a dark beer rookie (will not overwhelm anyone) but somewhat more bland then its appearence would lead you to believe. Overall, a solid choice.

Bottle: Almost black colour under small head. Roasted malt, espresso and licorice in the nose. Sour malt flavour. Thin and soft mouthfeel. Could be better.

Gethinbeer (1524) - Musky, Nova Scotia, CANADA - DEC 17, 2007
UPDATED: DEC 14, 2011 Dark amber to mahogany colour. Frothy white head and spice malt aroma. Thin body, yet packs some flavour. Roasted malt, cherry and caramel. Flavour soon dissipates. A little dull and too sweet for my liking.
