| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Aug 10, 2005 Bottled. Light toffee aroma. Brown color, small light brown head, few lace. Light sweet, toffee but actually quite neutral flavor, thin. Lubiere (4491), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Mar 15, 2004 Brown ale with a nice fruity(raisins) and chocolaty nose, almost vinous. Thats where the pleasure stops. Very sweet malts and little hops make this a uninspired beer in the mouth. Very thin also. Note that this was tasted in a blind tasting. tiggmtl (4311), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
| 0.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 1/10 | 4/5 | 1/10 | 1/5 | 1/20 | Dec 12, 2005 A dark beer can be a very scary thought to some people… in this case, I can see why! Rancid butter and caramel in the nose. Clear dark brown body is topped by a huge, fluffy, off white head that recedes very slowly to a generous cover. Diacetyl overwhelms any positive flavours that may have once existed in this one. Watery and heavy in the mouth with carbonation that does not last at all. Sampled on tap at the Walper Hotel in Kitchener. HogTownHarry (4000), Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, Canada
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Sep 28, 2005 Bottle (341ml). Poured deep ruby with a very foamy-fizzy tan head. Aroma of burnished steel, sweet sort of roasted malt, I guess some hops under the metal. Taste is cardboard, grain, somewhat sour malt, maybe a hint of sour cherry hiding in there. Mouthfeel is a little brackish, almost chalky, hard to describe - there’s an odd metallic nature to this one that puts me off. What do these people think "dark" means, besides added colouring? FLAVOUR, folks - proper roast malt, ramped up hops - character, that’s what we want. *sigh* Sammy (3981), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Dec 23, 2006 Dark, sourish, true to its style but certainly not the best example of it. Quaffable but weak mouthfeel. Modest taste some chocolate malt.Spot of coffee and nuts, the latter like a brown. Even a hint of licorice. Reasonable carbonation. Malty but not cloying sweet.

| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Dec 31, 2004 Light sweet, fruity aroma. Fairly clean, but suffers from same problem as many local brothers do - to much dry carbonation. Other than that fairly soft texture, with hinted roasted malt. Simple , beer that does nor shout for attention . I would not call this true Schwarz.
