COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Looks dark, tastes light. It’s Ontario’s favourite dark lager. A dark beer that is slowly brewed with Canadian grown malted barley, specialty coloured malts, imported hops and pure cultured brewers yeast. Dark lagers are enjoyed all year long, and they’re not as filling as ales. Waterloo Dark will cut some of the heaviness in sauce-based meat dishes. Waterloo Dark is an equally perfect beer to go with appetizers suitable for watching sports games, or used as an actual ingredient when preparing a meal. Experience what this great dark "light tasting" lager has to offer and why it has won multiple awards at the World Cup of Beer, Canadian Brewing Awards, Ontario Brewing Awards and the Monde Selection International Institute For Quality Selections.

Toasted malt aroma, medium sweet taste, very mild bitterness. Honestly not bad considering the artificial flavor, but I definitely wouldn’t classify it with the craft brews in the area.

Can. Clear dark amber-brown pour. Lightly malty aroma, some dark candied fruits and grains. Flavour is sweet and malty, some serious notes of grape juice. Light and easy, sweet, not altogether repulsive. But not what I want to drink.

Served chilled in a shaker. Hazy, dark brown body with a tan/creme head. Head was quick to dissipate, cutting off the freshly painted coffee shop aroma. Beer has a nice light body with only mild carbonation and a long, slightly bitter tail. The beer’s flavour is very basic - slightly bitter take on a traditional lager. Overall an average beer, good choice for party goers with a preference for dark beers that aren’t filling.

Pours dark brown with a plentiful tan head. Aromas are malty, grainy and a bit stale. Taste is mostly sweet malts with a somewhat sour finish. The body is quite thin and watery, with an alcoholic aftertaste. Not that good.

Can shared at the Foothills Sexual Chocolate pre-release party. Dark chocolate thin pour. Malty body of caramel with the slightest coffee notes. Some grainy cereal and sourness in the finish. An amber ale only not amber.

473ml can. Pours a dark ruby with an off white head that thins quickly. Aroma has notes of caramel, bread, and slight dark fruits. Taste is on the malty side with hints of dark fruits, bread, and caramel. Short finish. Medium body and carbonation. Clean and crisp in the mouth. Almost refreshing. Overall worth a try for sure. Cheers!

Nice caramel aroma. Deep amber colour with a thin but productive head. Dissipates quickly. Little sweet with just a touch of bitterness. Light body with a thin texture and lively carbonation. Very enjoyable. Not overpowering. Very refreshing. I could drink several of these. Minimal aftertaste.

Aroma is of yeast and bread. Color is dark but not opaque. The head is white and short lived. Taste is sweet, malty, bready, some bock like qualities without the body. Other tasting notes subtle toffee, brown sugar and clove notes. It finishes very sweet and leaves a syrupy molasses taste on the palate. Palate wise its kinda of thin. Overall, it is ok.

Pours coca cola dark with a soda fountain cap that fades from foam to nothingness. Aroma is a tad on the meh side of things. Taste is ok. Heavy on the lager. The darkness here is mostly superficial. But I kinda got a soft spot for this brew -- used to love drinking it out of the stubbies back in the day. It’s a good can for shoving up a chickens butt on the bbq.

Sample at Primo’s Deli. The beer is a dark brown color with a medium tan head that recedes gradually. Strings of lacing. Aroma of roast malt and slight hops. Light body with flavors of grainy malt, chocolate and mild hops. The finish is slightly roasty with a short chocolate malt aftertaste. Just average overall.
