COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Deep golden in color, made with light caramel malts, hopped with loads of Amarillo hops with a slight citrus flavor, then dry hopped for 4 days for a plentiful aroma. Our brewmaster’s favorite.

ARH (158) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - APR 5, 2014
22oz bottle poured into a tulip glass. The aroma starts with a strong citrus (a bit of grapefruit, a bit of orange) as well as a hint of candy berry. As the head thins out, more caramel comes through with pine. Near the end of the bottle, there’s a roasted nut note as well as some bubblegum and a biscuit-like aroma as well. It pours a crystal clear, dark honey gold with a soapy, effervescent, off-white head that recedes quickly to a filmy dishwater layer with a light ring around the edges. It leaves some lace behind, but not much. The taste is a balance of medium sweetness with a medium bitter; although the bitter part becomes much more mellow and less pronounced near the end of the bottle (low levels). It a medium bodied beer with an all-around average carbonation. The texture is oily, although started to become creamy as it warmed. A pine and resin finish is noticed early in the drink, but near the end, the caramel malt is much more prevalent and the finish takes on more berry, citrus, and toasted bread qualities with a touch of nuttiness. The aftertaste is initially pine and resin, but some bubblegum starts to appear as the bottle empties.

Bottle shared by beerpig317. Poured clear copper color with an average frothy white head that was lasting with excellent lacing. Solid balanced complex citrus hop and sweet malt aroma. Medium to abundant body with smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy balanced flavor with a medium smooth bittersweet finish of moderate duration. Solid drinkable brew.

650 mL bottle. Beautiful colour, almost bronze. But virtually no head. Beautiful aroma - two very citrusy hops. Flavour is well balanced, although the malt really only provides sweetness. Flavour is the APA version of Sculpin. Nothing jumps out at you - it’s just perfectly constructed. Nice bitterness level from the start and through the finish. Body is just average, but that’s a small complaint.

Orange in color. Poured with minimal head. Aroma of hops and mild caramel. Mild lacing. I did not get any citrus in the taste. Mostly mild hops with a sticky finish. Not bad. Goes down easy.

Bomber to snifter. Looks good; a mostly transparent orange with eggshell lacing. Smells solid; juicy hops and pale malt. Tastes like it smells with an average mouthfeel. A bit more syrupy than I prefer, but solid nonetheless.

Brickstone APA bottle .. . Dark yellow gold .. Solid foam .. . Promising aroma but astringent as hell .. . Light resin and grass .. . Falls apart in the end .. . . There are 105 calories in an average 7 inch banana.

22oz bottle, shared by beerpig317. Clear amber color. Thin bubbly white head, leaves good reaches of lace. Nice grapefruity citrusy citra hop in the nose; caramel malt... Great biscuity malt. Medium-plus body. Smooth, crisp, lighter carbonation. Some vanilla. Moderate bitter taste. Little sweet. Great, flavorful pale ale. A bit hoppier than typical, but it’s not pretending to be an IPA.. Very balanced. Great, interesting, complex malt profile, too...

22oz bottle 4/19/14 (Binnys Downers Grove)-40° in Shaker-Pours a hazy light amber with a small white head. Aroma of hops, citrus, and malt. Taste of the same with more hops. This medium bodied brew is well balanced and goes down smooth . Nice brew.

Draft on tap at Floyd’s Alehouse (New Lenox, IL). Nice little place to find with reasonable prices, some real gems for cheap. Finally rating this one to boot. Pours a nice glowing golden amber hue, a touch darker in the body, touch of haziness but fairly transparent as we press out and show some nice shine. A cakey whitish head atop stays as a decent layer, larger fluff dies down to a thicker ring that laces nicely. Aromas are potent Amarillo hops, fruity citrus, touches of tropical fruit, soap and florals hit the nostrils hard. Some bready malts, a touch of sweeter caramel. Really fresh, vibrant. Initial is lighter end of medium bodied, a touch of girth in there as more florals, Amarillo, citrusy bitter hit. Not as impressive or dominant as the nose showed, hitting with some bready malt, touch of caramel and soapy dry florals, earthy, faint spiciness. Middle is fairly clean, a touch sweet as we move back to a dry, more bitter finish. The hop character isn’t as fruity or complex as the nose showed but is sufficiently dry and bitter on the palate as we finish up. Lingering gumball, citrus and fruit play a bit in and out, with some decent hop character still remaining. While lacking that potent slam, it certainly is well constructed and a beer worth a shot if ever offered. Really nice APA, perhaps a touch high on the ABV for me in the long run.
