Holy wow this is fantastic. This beer is deceptively light-bodied, but has plenty of malty, chocolatey, toasty flavors. No hop presence aside from underlying bitterness. A tiny bit of floral hop aroma is almost hidden. There’s almost a milky flavor/feeling but it might be the texture. The beer finishes as powerfully as it starts with bread crust and a bit of fig/caramel. Fantastic, and a beer West Virginia can be proud of!

Bottle pours deep brown/black with a thin beige head. Aroma is lightly roasted with lots of dark fruit esters. Flavor shows dark chocolate, light coffee, anise, licorice, dark berries, and some naked alcohol. Overall body is moderate, relatively sweet, with light roast and light to moderate bitterness.
