COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bridgeís Indian Arm Black IPA is a west coast style dark ale with earthy tones, flavours of cola and coffee, and a hint of nuttiness. This dry beer receives its character from de-husked wheat, caramel malts, and Canadian 2-row barley. Hopped with Cascade and Willamette varieties, this Cadcadian Dark Ale embraces its west coast roots.

Pours a deep red tinged black with thin cap of off white head. Aroma is sharp hops, some light roast malt. Taste is a little thin but very well balanced. Hops are there with a good malt back. Itís the kind of beer that if amped up would have been quite good but in this form itís more average. Good effort though from a local brewer thatís trying to please the middle of the road market.

Growler, courtesy of manuchampions (thanks Jon), pours black with a medium tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, light citrusy hops, very nicely balanced. Flavour is bitter, with dry hops, dry roasted malt and finishing with a fairly dry, quite highly astringent palate. A little watery and quite astringent, but nice flavour profile. Quite solid black IPA.

Draft at St. Augustineís, Vancouver. It IS black, very little tan head. Not much in the way of aroma. Thin body, cola flavor/effervescence in mouthfeel, finish is abrupt and subtly sweet, hops arenít really present, reminds me more of a cola porter than a Black IPA. I was expecting more complexity, more hop presence and more in terms of roasty malts. Wins some points back for its sessionability, but overall just OK.
